This drama was a treat! Didn't expect it to make fun of so many drama tropes and in such a clever way. Daisy Li is a totally different person when she's cheeky and all smiles, I love her acting here. The ML comes off as a child pretending to be an adult. I've got nth against the actor but he can't pull off the ruthless image no matter how many times he cracks the whip. Maybe Deng Kai would have been a better choice for that role.
Unpopular opinion:I feel so bad for the actor! He is so uncomfortable during the intimate scene. His discomfort shows and he's straining to keep his body poised. It could have appeared as trying to restrain himself were it not for the uncoordinated kissing. Do they employ intimacy directors? If not, maybe they should. I just hope he wasn't traumatised.
Why is the ML so unresponsive? You get the heavy breathing and when it's time for the unhinged moment he gets stone faced. I 'd have been insulted were I the actress.
Just a thought which I'm sure it must have been expressed, but it kind of hit me now suddenly. The first two episodes were quite reminiscent of "The apothecary diaries" anime. An unassuming girl, a beautiful official, her penchant for the macabre, living impoverished with her old (crazy here) foster parent.
Has it been answered? I'm looking but I can't find anything. Why is he walking around being himself? It's obvious she's not blind now, especially with the way she fiddles the weed soup
It wasn't a filler ep for me. We had to witness XZ transition and power, his pain and wrath. We need to wonder about her fate and process ep 23 and its implications. IMO previews spoil all the fun. Imagine the emotional rollecoaster were we in the dark, like in the 90s early 00s when we just had to wait for the next ep to drop to find out what happened. Of course someone can choose not to know, but that usually implies abstinence from all social media apps. Algorithm is a bish.
