Title Pit Babe
I feel like the novel spoilers have completely permeated and hijacked this discussion board. Because for the life…
I’m not the right person to ask, lol. My brain is broken.

I’m always more drawn to the darker, twisted, kind of crazy characters. I just find them more interesting. Especially because often times these types of characters are played by strong actors.

I’ve often wondered why the phenomenon exists, that a lot of people tend to like side characters more than the main couple. I think you might have hit on part of the reason here. The main couple is often constrained by certain archetypical expectations demanded by the plot. And almost always, the writing has to do the most insane mental gymnastics to justify every action of the main couple as noble and good.

And this just isn’t at all interesting.

Side characters aren’t held to the same boring expectations. We get to see them be scheming and crazy and imperfect. And at least to me, that tends to be far more compelling. We also see them in smaller doses, so they don’t suffer from the same overexposure.

I was actually initially excited by the main couple of this show. I liked that Charlie seemed shady. I thought, finally, a main protagonist in a BL that lived in the grey area. That wasn’t pure as the driven snow. But the more episodes they put out, the more I realize that this show never had any intention of making Charlie complex in this way. They only wanted to paint the illusion of intrigue onto his character.

Because you’re right. The plot of this can be seen by a mile away. This show that I thought was going to have its characters dancing in that beautiful gray area is going to turn out to be black and white. Way must be evil so that Charlie can be good, and we’re right back to the same boring archetypes that I’ve become all too familiar with.

Of course, it’s still early and there’s still a chance that this show could prove me wrong. For the record, I hope it does.

But in the meantime, my broken brain is more drawn to a character like Way.

I’m just rambling at this point. So I think I’ll stop here.

Dear Gangster Oppa having a higher rating than this show is a crime against humanity.

For all of the faults I have with this show, it has never once made me viscerally cringe in the way that show has on multiple levels. And even if I'm not the biggest fan of the main couple, at least their story isn't riddled with every cliché that could possibly be drawn from the BL starter kit.

I feel like a lot of people are prejudging this show because of the A/B/O dynamics, which is really unfortunate, because I feel like that is like the tiniest microcosm of what this show is even about. It's barely even a plot point, to the point that I wish they had just left it out altogether and just made them something akin to mutants from the X-Men, since that seems to be more the direction they're going in anyways.

That's really all I have to say. See everybody on Friday.

"They hated Jesus because he told them the truth" but Way is Jesus and y'all hating this man for looking out for…
lol. I love you.

P.S. Babe losing that race was his own damn fault because he was distracted by the dicknopsis that Charlie put him under. Way didn't make Babe lose. Babe lost because he was too trusting of a complete stranger and let him get under his skin.

I knew I could trust you. After all, you are the self appointed President of the Way Apologist Club. IThinkThereforeIAm has already claimed the role of treasurer, and I suck with money anyways, so I guess I will self appoint myself as the VP. I'm ride or die at this point.

I don't think Pooh's bad, I just don't think he's particularly good either. He has no experience. But the problem is not his acting. The problem is that Charlie is a poorly written character. I actually feel bad for Pooh, because I'm not sure Nut, or even Gun Atthaphan or
First Kanaphan could save this character or make him interesting. There is absolutely nothing on the page to make Charlie compelling. Pooh literally has nothing to work with.

Way is the most rational person in the team so far (even if he's just jealous). Babe is being too trusting too…
Finally, I've found you. A soul not marred by main ship rose colored glasses. It's like everybody just developed amnesia and forgot that Charlie is being shady as hell.

And also, Babe getting all distracted and losing the race is his own fault for becoming all obsessed about Charlie in the first place.

Does the show want me to feel sorry for Charlie at this point? Because I don't.Babe is the only one getting manipulated,…
THIS x Infinity! People jump down Way's throat because of his selfish motivations, but at least we KNOW what his motivations are. At least we know underneath all of the petty insecurity that he actually cares about Babe, even if it's in a fucked up way. We still have no idea what Charlie's deal is. We still don't even know WHAT his feelings for Babe are, and yet everybody's on his side just because he's half of the main couple and therefore must be good. No, show. You're not going to gaslight me into liking Charlie just because he's half of the main couple. If you want me to like Charlie, then make him likeable.

So because they might have been through a lot, he tells his friend "no one can love him without expecting anything…
He says "No one truly loves US" not "No one truly loves YOU" and I think there is nuance in that. I take that to mean he's including himself in that. To me, that reads as him truly believing that, possibly because of their abilities (?) (Just a theory, I have no idea where the plot is going) they can never truly fall in love with anyone without that person possibly having nefarious motives.

Again, this is why I want to know more of their history, because I feel like a lot of that will inform some of his fears and motivations. Perhaps it's not the first time someone has tried to use either of them. Hell, look at Tony. All he did was use Babe because of what he could do.

And Charlie IS being dishonest. So it's not exactly like Way pointing that out to Babe is some crime against humanity.

And yes, petty feelings like jealousy are still human feelings. I'm not suggesting that Way is a saint, here. He is obviously acting on selfish motivations. I am merely suggesting that he may be acting on MORE than just selfish motivations. That is all.

Jesus, based off of the way people were talking on here, I thought Way did something nefarious and terrible in this episode. I feel like people have just decided to jump on the Way hate bandwagon because they just expect him to eventually become villainous. I feel like people are only painting his character in black and white when I actually think there is a lot of nuance to his motivations that we just don't know about yet.

I really want to know more of the personal history between Babe and Way. Because I think there is a deeper reason why Way is so mistrusting of outsiders. I think there's a deeper reason why he insists that both he and Babe could never be loved by anyone. A statement I think he actually believes, and is the reason why he has never confessed his feelings to Babe. And I think that reason is more than just petty romantic jealousy.

All he did was suggest to Babe that he shouldn't be so open to trusting Charlie. And magically everyone conveniently forgets that Charlie is NOT being honest or forthcoming with Babe. But because he's the main protagonist, he receives the benefit of the doubt. He gets to be painted with shades of grey. He secretly has Babe's best interest at heart, even though the actually script hasn't told us that. Not Way though. Way must be nefarious and selfish and only out for himself because the plot says so.

I try to look at things from Way's perspective. If this was a story in which he was the main protagonist. Clearly Babe has been through some shit. We have no idea what Way has been through yet, or what they've been through together. What we do know is that Babe is the most important person to Way. That much is obvious. I think he could handle his unrequited feelings as long as he was also the most important person to Babe. But all of a sudden, some kid shows up out of the blue and is around ALL of the time. Suddenly he's living at your best friends house. Babe inserted Charlie on the team without even giving a shit if that was cool with everybody else on the team. Charlie takes Babe's time and attention, and suddenly Way feels like he's not the most important person in Babe's life anymore, and he reacts accordingly. Is it petty and selfish? Yes. But it's also understandable and human.

I'm sure I may be proven wrong in all my theorizing here, and that in the end Way will just end up being a black and white villain because the plot needs Charlie to be the only person that Babe can truly trust (insert eye roll here) but until the plot actually tells me that this is the case, I am going to proceed to give Way the benefit of the doubt. Even if I'm the only one.

Also please don't @ me with novel spoilers. I don't really care what Way was like in the novels, because the show has already ventured far away from the plot of the novels anyways.

Sorry, I did not mean to make this a whole novel. Apparently I have a lot of feelings about this, lol.

Who is Way’s romantic partner?
I think they’re supposed to be in the series. Screentime is anybody’s guess, because this show is practically bloated with supporting characters. Apparently they’re not even a thing at all in the books, so we can’t even really use those as a guesstimate 🤷‍♀️ it’s all speculation at this point.

I'm sure it must be a relief for OffGun to get to do a fun lighthearted series after so many that involved heavy drama. I know that they're talented and can pull off drama well, but let's let them have at least a couple of series where they don't have to cry every other scene or fight for their lives. I feel like they were the same as what FirstKhao feel right now. Those two are practically begging for a comedy series.

I don't see how loving someone you've known for a really long time makes you a loser. I'd agree with your point…
I don't really take any spoilers from the book as gospel, because they're going to have to change so much of it for the tv show anyways. We know they're going to change the big reveal of Tony's motivations to something different, because it's definitely not going to be the same as in the book. So who knows how much is different in the series. I haven't read the book, and I don't think the show is going to be a word by word faithful adaptation of the book anyways. So I can only base my opinions on what I've seen so far in the show.

I don't see how loving someone you've known for a really long time makes you a loser. I'd agree with your point…
I guess I interpret things a little differently. First, I don't think he's chased off any potential suitors for Babe because I think up to this point he's never had to. I think they made it pretty clear in the first episode that Babe notoriously never kept anyone around for very long. That's what makes Charlie so "special" to Babe. I think him continuously repeating that Babe will drop Charlie eventually is actually a coping mechanism for himself. I think he wants to make himself believe that that's true and that things with Charlie aren't different than all of the others. I think Way has resigned himself to at the very least being the person who knows Babe the best and is the closest to him. That has always been his comfort in accepting that he knows Babe will never love him back. So I guess I can understand and empathize a little that he feels like his position as the closest person to Babe is being threatened. And I don't blame him for being sus on Charlie. Charlie is sus, and he's not even that good at hiding it. They've shown that Way is very perceptive and picks up on things before other people. If Babe wasn't so dickmatized he'd be able to see the awkward toggle between Charlie's true self and his fake cutesy self too.

I don't see how loving someone you've known for a really long time makes you a loser. I'd agree with your point about the ulterior motives if Charlie wasn't being obviously sketchy af. If anything the way the story is as of right now, Babe looks like a fucking idiot for just throwing in and trusting Charlie who has given him absolutely no reason to trust him. I imagine if I had a friend that I had romantic feelings for, and some sketchy new kid just showed up one day and inserted himself into his life, I'd be pretty suspicious too.

Way is actually not a good guy , he was sent by the father to impregnate babe. Way is also another adopted son
Part A) Ain't no way any of that is making it into this show. I'm not sure how they're going to change it. But it's not going to be that.
Part B) My opinion stands. Honestly, I don't think that much of Babe at the present moment, so I don't even care if Way betrays him.
