If I remember correctly the short story (orginal feeder material frr the show) doesn't even mention who was haochen' mother. Haoming just randomly tells xu yan if she will accept hislove child. That's it. No more drama or story about that child.

In upcoming days when ratings will drop and people will say it was straight out of porn they don't understand how we discussed this drama as a piece of art. Yes. Art could be sometimes outrageous, blasphemous and immoral but that doesn't make art bs. It was art for us. Novel and drama plot are so much different.. they have changed a lot from novel
I think the short story( yes. It's a short story not novel) is more slice of life. The drama is more on romance side with slice of life like a dressing on top.

Okay. So in novel fl grows up with her granny and her elder sister comes to see her in Beijing. She is pregnant. Her baby daddy has refused to marry her. And her parents are toxic. They fight a lot. They are still on and about that bcz of second child they lost their Happy life. Father lost the job and became drunkard. Now about xu yan' life...she has a lover who is haoming. She tries to set in his family. I think haoming has a love child. Haoming Is a lawyer. Xu yan sympathies with haoming' uncle who is broke and asks for shen family' help. She sees herself in him. The elder sister returns from Beijing to her home town and births a baby girl. Then she suicides. After her suicide her father gets his job back as the suicide makes the news and their story comes out on television. However xu yan is sad. She blames her sister for losing patience and not trusting her enough. Then she realises that her life based on lies with haoming isn't as satisfying as she thought. Haoming breaks up with her after knowing about the suicide. Author's note says that he was guilty about not being able to save her sister. Xu yan decides to go back and bring her sister's baby back to Beijing with her. The story is sad. Drama is completely different from the short story.
I can bet my dog that haoming knows everything about ZL' background. He is enjoying this cat and mouse run. He loves when she is scared. He knows her weakness and he uses it smartly. Damn. I love when ml and fl both are scheming. I am waiting for the ep when their lies will be exposed.
