If you had read my other comments you'll see that I dislike the show for it's plot and not only because of the age and the fact that it romantices SA, etc and honestly the fact that the older guy is meant to play Gu Hai's part is even worse (like it could be any worse already) a 30 year old man acting like a toxic abuser to a 15-16 yo kid seems so incredibly disgusting

He was 15 while filming and the other one was a a grown man closer to 30, if that doesn't make you uncomfortable idk what else, their characters are supposed to be the same age but even if you ignore that, Idk why they're making a remake of a story that romanticises SA

When did I ever defend the plot??? The Chinese version was a toned down version of the book as well, I'm extremely aware of that but still it was deeply problematic, and yes it's fictional but the way that the characters behave+ irl age gap makes it uncomfortable. This show shouldn't have been remade, but if they wanted it so badly they could have hired a younger actor more fitting

I'm absolutely loving the show but I still feel that there are certain plots that should have been developed a bit more in general but overall it's a pretty good show with very nice acting especially Orm, she's doing a fantastic job

I've read the full novel and watched the Chinese version and it was definitely non con and like I said if they're going to follow the novel it's definitely going to be deeply innapropiate, at least in the Chinese version they were both grown men in their early 20s

This show is genuinely so problematic seriously and it's not even good enough, the side characters are annoying, the cinematography is very deficient and the acting very bad as well

I don't know how much are they going to follow the novel but I definitely don't want to see a grown ass 27yo (who's turning 28 this year) man forcing himself on a 16yo and also this plot is already deeply problematic and something I thought we had left behind in 2016 not something I'll like to see in 2024

He's still a 16 yo boy who's too young to be acting with a grown ass man

She deserves a main role, she's just so talented and her comedic timing is genuinely very good

This show looks VERY promising
