Here I was hyped over the latest episode and the buildup it was creating for ep 10 only to come to the comments…
My biggest frustration is how this adaptation keeps sidelining Heesu and Seungwon's core story - you know, the actual romance that's supposed to be the heart of the drama. Their development keeps getting interrupted by unnecessary subplots to the point where the second leads and side characters aren't just supporting cast anymore; they're actively stealing screentime from the main couple's emotional payoff. What made the manhwa so special was its tight, beautiful focus on their relationship, but the drama keeps sacrificing that intensity for filler.
And let's be absolutely clear: this isn't about the actors. The real issue is the director's decision to rewrite a BL story in a way that erases its queer essence. If they wanted a conventional straight romance, they should've created an original story instead of stripping the LGBTQ+ heart from existing material. This isn't just routine 'adaptation changes' - it's straight-washing, plain and simple. It's disrespectful to the original work and to BL fans who were promised an authentic adaptation of the story they love.
😭😭they were gaslighting us , making it seem like it's not that bad and that we're the bad guys
Man, the gaslighting was crazy back then. But you know what? We were right all along and now everyone can see it. It's so satisfying to finally have the truth out there while all the people who doubted us have nothing left to say. No comebacks, no excuses - just silence. Feels good to be proven right after all that nonsense.
Finally a BL with actors that look the age they are portraying. I am tired of seeing uncles playing teens💀
YES THIS! The school BLs are too childish in my opinion and don't act like actual kids in that age group. But yes we need actual good non-school BLs scripts approved.
And people were saying "Oh the straight couple is not really the main focus of the show." "Its a slow burn romance between Heesu and Seung Won" No this is a straight washed "BL". They should have called this (whatever Heesu bestfriend's name was) in class 2 rather than Heesu in class 2. Imagine being a side character in your own story. I called this bs from the begining.🤡 (The acting is really good, but the director knew what he was doing. he better sleep with one eye open) For ruinning Heesu in Class 2
I hated Cutie Pie, literally dropped it after 2 or 3 episodes, but I like ZeeNunew so lets hope this is way better…
I respect what the show was trying to do in terms of representation, but I personally found the execution lacking. While the themes of marriage equality and gender equality are important, I felt they were often overshadowed by problematic dynamics and repetitive melodrama that undermined the messaging. The intentions were good, but the storytelling didn’t land for me.
That said, I completely understand why it resonates with you and others! Different shows speak to different people, and I’m glad it provided meaningful conversations for you. It just wasn’t my personal cup of tea.
