The problem is that many story writers in Chinese dramas consider the desire for power, desire for women to be taboo/kept away from the character of an ML, even when the ML is an emperor. It's as if an ML must purely fight for goodness, if necessary sacrificing his own interests. Similar to the character of a monk...

I really hate Chinese dramas that tell stories about old emperors who still want to sleep with young girls, like in this drama. Why didn't Princess Zigu just betrothed to the princes? On the other hand, it is difficult for ML to find his soul mate/sleeping partner, even though there are many beautiful women around him... I'm sure the author of this drama is an old man... hahaha
