I think the problem with Guardians of the Dafeng was that there were so many female characters, and FL didn't have enough screen time, she wasn't very well developed throughout the series. I always said that the focus of the series was ML, the novel is all his, so a romance couldn't overshadow his trajectory. That's why I believe they tried not to put so much FL into the scene
