I mean, it’s because of this whole 'equal billing' thing that they turned what was supposed to be a female centered drama into something that suddenly focuses on both genders. And for what? The original novel didn’t even need a male lead to begin with. The entire story revolves around the queen and her power. It’s all about her. Forcing a male storyline into it just waters down the impact.
