I'd disagree. I think the ending was very fitting and though very different, I found the latter half of the drama equally good as the first half if not better.People have different tastes but seeing that there are people who liked the drama as it is, I don't think the problem is necessarily with the story but that many people had a specific way they wanted the drama to go and didn't vibe with the shift in the story.

I think we need to cut Wei Rao some slack. Girl just got her freedom after toiling her entire life and deserves some break before jumping into another marriage (even if she does love Lu Zhou) which is practically a full-time job of pleasing everyone in his family and running the household.

I didn't watch ep 20 yet but Lu Zhou was anything but mean when they were divorcing?? The one who wanted the divorce was Wei Rao and not him, yet not only he complied with her wishes, he also took the blame for the divorce so that she was not pressured to change her mind. How is that mean?

Technically he only won that round with Han Liao. And fainted which would consider him forfeited ig. The competition is still going on and I think the competition was just meant to browse potential partners, it's not like the winner was promised her hand or something.
