[This is what I found on reddit, not my words, but it helped me understand Ming Yi's perspective, maybe it will make you see Ming Yi's pov too] "The way I perceive it is that Ming Yi starts out trying to seduce the ML purely to get her hands on the cure to her poisoning. At that stage she does not like him at all, seeing him as an enemy, a threat, someone who lies, cheats, and engages in debauchery. As the series progresses, she slowly comes to know him, realising he is a good person, someone who cares for others, and that he is not the one who poisoned her. She keeps her eyes on the price though, working to earn his trust so she can get her hands on the cure. However, through the acts to earn his trust she finds herself cared for, and this is clearly something she is not used to - her feelings start changing, she falls in love. And this becomes her dilemma - she fears if she reveals herself, that the ML will stop loving her, will see her as just a user, that she will be like everyone else. To me, it isn't the reasons that she started out with (to deceive) that keeps her silent, but a fear of losing the unconditional love she is receiving, something she wants to protect and keep. And so she continues to deceive, to keep the love for as long as possible. She knows it is doomed, hence her melancholy their last night together - she knows she will never have this again. So why doesn't she tell the ML, if she knows she will lose his love anyway? Because she is ashamed, she feels guilty and she wants to postpone her fall from grace as long as possible, to hold onto that sliver of good she feels from being loved by the ML. When the ML finds out, he responds in the way she expected, shunning her thus confirming her choice to not tell him being the right one. And, remember, at this point she thinks 27 is going to be ok, that he will survive when she doesn't. To her, losing her life, is an outcome she partly expected, and her heartbreak causes her to not fight as she might otherwise have done. To her, it is not a choice between telling male lead, surviving but betraying her country and people, it is a choice between love versus life. And she holds onto love for as long as she possibly can."
Who? I prefer someone he hasn’t partnered with before. He hasn't done romance in 3 yrs. I rather see a fresh…
Glad I’m not the only one that thought of her, heh. Deng Enxi could play the role too, she’s got the looks, acting, and youth down! Yeah, let’s pray Shen Miao gets most of the screen time since it is her story to tell.
