everyone knows chinese fandoms can be extremely toxic, and intl fans really shouldn’t overinterpret and get dragged into it. It’s best to just ignore the fanwars happening on Weibo or other Chinese platforms and enjoy the drama for what it is.

I think the real issue lies with relying too much on rumors. I don’t blame people for believing them, especially when they come from so-called “reliable sources" but even then, we shouldn’t fully trust them, especially when the distribution license hasn’t been released yet. Some dramas even have to go through the review process twice before getting approval, so it’s really hard to predict anything in advance. And these sources aren’t the NRTA, and they wouldn’t actually know when the license will be issued. Without that license, a drama can’t be scheduled or broadcast. That’s why I’m just hoping people can manage their expectations and wait patiently for official news instead of letting rumors dictate their emotions.

Rumors are just rumors, we really shouldn’t rely on them too much. If it ends up airing in january, february or even March, then so be it. Marketing accounts are mostly just chasing attention anyway. They make announcements without any official confirmation, then when the time they hinted at comes and there’s still no real news, they push another vague post for a different month. That’s basically how these marketing accounts operate, they exist to create stories and stir anticipation. So let’s not place too much hope on their posts. Then, we’re the ones who get our expectations up and when nothing happens, we’re the ones who feel disappointed. It’s better to stay calm and wait for an official announcement instead.

Ju Jingyi’s last drama aired back in March 2024 and it’s almost been two years without any new drama from her. It feels so long already. I miss seeing her on screen so much. At this point, I’m so eager that I’d gladly watch anything she appears in, no matter the genre or role. I just really need a new Ju Jingyi drama in my life soon 🥹💔

Oh, but I’ve noticed that the top 3 dramas usually each receive their own titled awards. For example, if a drama ranks in the top three, one or more of the main leads attend the ceremony and receive that award on behalf of the drama, sometimes alongside their individual awards as well.

If Veil of Shadows makes it into the Top 3 of the Weibo shortlist, will the main leads attend?

From what I usually see, once a drama enters that shortlist, the main leads are very likely to show up. That’s why I’m really hoping to see Ju Jingyi and Rui attend and personally receive the awards, ideally together with all four main leads, including Chenduling and Zheng Shunxi😊
