it was not a good reason it was a bad reason for him to left her and the plot focuses on healing rather than this messy relationship, as i read the novel.

no not in that sense of betrayal he relies fl for financial reason because of his initial music career and afraid of his future . Repeatedly ran away for future commitments, he generally manipulated her thinking that whenever he have a chance he can get back with her any time. That's why he left her.
