some point of your is right. queen mother indeed had a crush on ml but she chooses to marry king who is ml's brother because ml never gonna become king and queen's family always produce queens about 4 or something.
About the regent I think the royal family members chooses ml , and ml not wants king place he only wants to recognise himself and be loved.
This is my thoughts.

I understand why people disappointed is that before the release of this drama they advertise it such a way that our expectations become too high , but it delivers a slightly low performance. I think that's why people think it's not best however I enjoyed it till now.
