They are gonna obviously deviate from the original novel since a lot of things cannot possibly be included and i'm totally fine with that as long as the aspects you mentioned are done well. The adaptation doesnt need to closely follow the novel. As long as the main idea is kinda the same its alright with me.

Same that's what i do too. For c-dramas i love watching the historical ones though i have watched modern ones too. For k-dramas i especially watch the modern ones cuz they have really good modern ones. I have not watched any historical kdramas yet.
