desperate shirtless men who have sand for brains, selfish unlikeable slappy women

OK so there are shirtless guys wearing tight pants-fine, if that is all you are interested in-enjoy. I'm not into watching sports of any kind but I started this as a way to unwind & it DID start out very sleep inducing. Then it actually got interesting. I actually found myself caring about the wrestling matches & rooting for the Lead. Still, I started to lose interest around Ep. 7, when the build up of community gossips, and Plethora of women slapping men became over done. This is becoming more & more a cultural divide for me, for which I cannot stomach. Why is this "comedy" ? It's a trope that's past it's expiration date. I started losing serious interest in Ep 8. You've got a whole town of aggressive, loud, slappy females & it's tiresome. The the lead female repeatedly puts her own agenda over supporting the male lead & it's pathetic & sad. She is selfish & undeserving of the male lead's affection. But, apparently all the men in the community are desperate & stupid, deserving thier fate as punching bags because it what they choose. By Ep. 8 the sweetness of the story soured. I pushed through to the end, and have to admit that it ended well. If you removed all the female slapping/hitting men, cut out the males lead's irritating family scenes, AND trimmed down the amount of wrestling scenes a bit- I'd give this a solid 8.5 . Sadly, there is just no fixing the unlikability of the female lead. I would re-title this : they had sand for brains.

Heart wrenching, crises driven drama...so far

up to Ep. 5 and it's alot of sad melodrama that tries it's best to make you cry at some point in every episode.

I love the cast & it's done really well, BUT it is a VERY crises driven drama & by that I mean that there is a crises in every episode, which makes it heart wrenching, so not an easy watch.

I mean is the acting good ? yes, but is it enjoyable ? not sure- crying or watching the actors cry is not my fav kind of entertainment. You know there will be a happy ending, but so far it's alot more heartache than I find I need in my life

Picking it up every now & again because the cast is very charming & endearing & you can't help but be fond of them & cheer them on.
In Episode 7 the mood lightens significantly & gives me hope that it will not be such a heavy drama going forward.
But will I end up rating it higher by the end ?

(Note: am I the only one that sees the male lead as a perfect in a drama playing RAIN's younger brother!?)

so far it's forgettable & not worth the time

I only saw episodes 1 & 2, which are 8 minute episodes (watched on amazon for free, the other 6 episodes cost$)
woman goes on blind dates and Starts to like her co worker, but when he asks her out she forgets because she was drunk & didn't remember . Didn't find it interesting enough to seek out the rest of the drama

Not enough fun. the excessive violence put me off

It started out fun then it got gritty & scary. It's too intense for me & the excessive violence put me off. The Female lead's cavalier attitude-using people & self centeredness is unappealing & I'm not sure that she's well cast in this. But basically it all boils down to the fact that There's not enough to interest me in continuing .
Will skip to the end just to see the happy ending.

Unlikeable female lead & nonsensical villain

There are better dramas out there for me to invest my time in. I tried to like this but not even Lee Jong Suk could save this drama. As it was I had to push through to episode 7. I kept telling myself that surely the female lead had some qualities that were endearing. Yet by episode 7 I still loathed her. The whole story hinges on her reconnecting with who she was when she wasn't such a ________ . They try to make a comedy out of her flaws, but there is too much to dislike about her.
The second big issue was with the romance pairing age gap. 10 years !
They try to make a joke out of it as the younger person is more mature & responsible than the older one, but there isn't any chemistry & it feels distasteful & forced..
Thirdly; the alternative male lead, who is a better age match for the female lead, is written so poorly & his attraction to the train wreck of a woman is inexplicable as she is rude, thoughtless, selfish & manipulative and he knows it.
The villain is appropriately intimidating, but as of Episode 7 while you see how clever he is, you also are blinded by the fact that his reason for viciously committing murder was because.......the guy made him angry ? The real reason will be revealed at a later date (but as of Ep 7 you have no clue) and yet, when you do know, it makes his actions beyond stupid.
Once out of jail, instead of going off into obscurity, he's intent on committing murder for the same reason. It helps that the police are mind numbingly out of touch with what thier job is.
SO here are the problems:
1) Female lead gets a grade D for personality
2) Male lead gets A+ for everything except accepting that female lead is a waste of time
3) Leads have no chemistry & the 10 yr age gap is ridiculous
4) Villain is somehow both clever & stupid as he seems to have a one track mind but no sense of self preservation

Is the age gap trope of very young male paired with much older woman something that was common when this was first released ? Was it supposed to appeal to the fantasy of the highschool boy or the older single woman ?
I'm remembering that HighShcool King of Savvy (2014) also had this trope & it also didn't work, though it was a better set up than this because at least the female lead was nice.

Alot of violence

I watched episodes 1, 2, 3 and found it to be very violent. The initial story ( about the highschoolers) seems to switch to the parents and I just didn't find it interesting. Really, the gritty story combined with the high level of violence is above my level of enjoyment. The main actors were very appealing

a calm, non stressful visual feast . Male lead shines. Romance lacks payout

I watched this expecting it to be a visual feast & a mostly calm drama that wouldn't be stressful & it was just that. The female lead played the same sort of ditzy character that she does so well. Her childishness can be irritating, but thankfully they also make her brave & endearing-(though often nonsensical.) The male lead, ( also playing a character type he's played in other dramas), really impresses with his range of expressions. As an actor He really is evolving well .
I enjoyed the soundtrack as it went well with the genre. This is a leisurely drama & they used alot of piano & traditional instruments which enhanced the atmosphere.
Side characters are boring. There are dull/boring/useless episodes & the way the drama ended was lacking. While there were many touching moments throughout the drama between the couples, the resolution/reuniting of the main couple is only ok as it had no embraces or kisses.(if you have ever seen the American movie musical My Fair lady-Audrey Hepburn version- this drama ending is reminiscent of that one).
You will need to watch through the credits to get the warm fuzzies you have been anticipating & it's barely enough payout for our investment in their relationship ,though The main couple Does show thier strong bond through out the drama, But I require a satisfying traditional happy ending .

Cast is wasted on this unsettling woke agenda made in 2014

for as old as this is, it has a surprising amount of Woke social awareness issues as well as alot of unsettling shock & awe .
Both lead characters were totally unappealing. I got 44 minutes into the 1st episode & found it disgusting.
Initially, I was very interested to see D.O. in an early drama role, BUT, I did not need to see him in a men's room peeing & checking out another guy that stood next to him.
I was completely taken off guard & confused that the female lead constantly (so far) defended people with deviant behavior-even as they assaulted her (& she wanted & needed help), she was still on the side of the mentally disturbed person (to the point of physically defending him against the person actually trying to help her. It was meant to be funny (why?). They discussed gender dysphoria ....so however you feel about that, there it is. The male lead was a sexual predator- a "player" who seemed to just like conquests. There was bloody knife Violence (well, it was a fork used as a weapon ) but all that I just mentioned was in the first 44 minutes.. and it was enough for me to drop it as the leads, as they presented them, are not people I can care about & want to see together.

last minute romance resolution but all you get is a hug & alot of smiles

First episode is kind of intriguing, but I got the feeling that this was more about the older guy's influence on the other characters & about the woes of the company. I skipped ep 2-9 & skimmed ep 10. As suspected, the romance is resolved at the last minute, with a confession , a promise & a hug. While this might be a nice feel good drama, I wanted something more & the happy ending was too bland for me to invest in

mean spirited chaotic comedy

this might turn out to be something other than what I saw in the first 2 episodes, but by the end of episode 2 I realized that I would rather watch something that I actually enjoyed & this was not it. I'm not a fan of enemies to lovers and I don't find chaos interesting. Mean spirited slap stick comedy isn't the kind of entertainment I'm looking for.
