A lot of people seem to confuse this with BDSM, but this is a horror, crime, movie. Tho it may later turn into other genres/something els, it is still based on an incredible unhealthy and sick situations.
IT IS NOT THE SAME THING, do not confuse THAT with Bdsm! Bdsm is all about consent from the other person yes from the start. Giving pleasure (pain can also be pleasure) when feeling safe and sound with a person you trust and who would never hurt you in any way while having you in their hands. Wanting to and desiring to give yourself "over" let them lead and guide you or you lead them. All in healthy ways and no forcing -unlike the kidnap/capture and rape scenes.
This movie made me feel so very disgusted, so incredible sad so it hurts and utterly aware once again. That how powerless you can be in this world, with the wrong people, in the wrong situations. So scary when this movie is also based on real events. Poor girl ;(
And not enough with that, but she also had to face such injustice as the victim, from the police who didn't help her nor even tried to lift a finger to make her feel safe -they did absolutely nothing. Even the parents of the 41 rapests, came to her school to harass the poor girl. And to top that the rapists never faced any consequences for their crimes!! Also, she lost her friend to the same rapists, as she ended up doing suicide.
After watching the trailer there is no hint in there.
