Everyone hating Song Han and there is me. This is the perfect time to flesh out his character. Before this he…
song han is like his dad, more ambitious than he is capable but want the shortcut, do the underhanded deeds rather than pursuing the right way, and always have a victim's complex.
i think song han knew for a long time he was the illegitimate child and that became his victim's complex point and also his fear. he feel less than his brother but he inherited his father's cowardice so rather than facing it bravely and improve himself, he rather blame the world, his dad, his mom, for putting him in that situation so he can justify whatever actions he take.
Every story needs a villain but the execution of the last arc with Song Han is terribly done. I was not annoyed…
yeah that's why the execution of his character is choppy and tbfrank the actor is little too green as well. i LOVE a good villain. doesn't matter how annoying they are to the main character i love them if they act the hell out of it. i never ever hate a villain before because i appreciate their character for the story narrative. it just song han is irritating because we know who the big villains are and i rather see THEM on screening plotting, rather than Songhan who is just a TOOL. for character like him who are one-dimension psychopath, their redeeming quality is intelligence, but right now he's more like a tool for the big guys. so for him, his character would have been better if they had developed some scenes early on for us to feel some kind of sympathy toward him, so we can see him as a tortured soul psychopath who got push off the edge and lashing out. but they kept him under wrapped as a surprise but the delivery fell flat.
So apparently the current Saeon didn't come from the orphanage right? I thought maybe he was one of the kids who…
I thought current Saeon was taking in because he's the Paik grandpa's illegitimate son? So he's technically a half brother to his current fake dad? I didn't read the novel but saw it somewhere or am i just hallucinating?
I agree. but Qot and Lovely runner fans won't 😅
Haha I felt the same. I watch QoT just to see the two leads having a fantastic time acting out that drama. I don't think I even care what the plot is about. Just something so satisfying about how the two of them act and play off each other. They could be acting out a mundane "day of my life" and I still watch.
Whereas Lovely Runner got me hook on the plot. I'm a sucker for time travel, and although it's a typical trope it has enough plot twist that kept me engaged. I became a fan of the actors after watching the drama.
Why are they ruining the Jiyong character? It came out of the left field. I hope his feelings are not romantic because he had no previous inclination. Why can't he just be the smart, and transcendental monk but just with hair? They had a fantastic character and they just ruined it. I was hoping he had something up his sleeve or everything is just a ruse for Lord Qing. Jiyong I'm still holding up hope for you.
Am I the only one who enjoyed every ep thus far aside from the fact I fast-forwarded every Song Han x AnSu scene??…
Every story needs a villain but the execution of the last arc with Song Han is terribly done. I was not annoyed at the step mom or the 5th uncle at all. The way they executed Song Han, maybe it's the actor or the writing just irritates the hell out of me. So much so that I felt bad and didn't visit here for a couple days. I was just so surprised people feel the same. I never hated a villain before, and I don't hate Song Han, but rather annoyed. He's just a NOT good villain. Whatever it is about him or his execution just seem half-hearted, like half cooked noodles. Not edible, and just sour your mood because it ruined the dish you were enjoying. Like please, you want to send it back to ask your cook to make it right because the rest of the dish is perfect. That's how I felt about SH.
Episodes 28-29 were so boring, and I fast-forwarded most of it. Suddenly, Song Han and Miao Ansu became the main…
Wow glad to be not the only one feeling bored the past couples I almost felt bad because I was so obsessed I binged watched the first 20 episodes. I love to see loveline for Ansu but didn't expect to get it this way. Yikes!!! I don't like Song Han and he's not even a good villain. Something about him just trigger me so much.. Not sure if it's the actor or the writing. Even when the stepmom and 5th uncle were the villains there were something satisfying about them. Every story need a villain. But Song Han just bugs me and I hate to see him on screen. Like just gtfo
Is it just me or I'm starting to feel bore... the 1 episode a day here is NOT working, and to be frank, the last arc here is not as satisfying/interesting as the stepmom arc. The crumbs they giving me is not making me hook, but rather quite annoyed. I feel the pacing is really ruining the experience. I'll just wait till they drop all the episodes because I'm not eager for new episode to just see freaking wet paper towel Song Han.
I'm under impression he does remember, also that he orchestrated their 2nd life by giving her that book
I think the drama trying to use him as red herring.. someone commented saying maybe this is not even his 2nd time, maybe his 3rd or 4th. Maybe he know they are destined to always die together, so this lifetime he tried to save her life.
I think there were plenty of criticism? First the book (of enlightenment in the drama) described him kind of a…
I agree they probably didn't want to spend more screentime on him. I think the "forgiveness" toward him is not so much about forgiving him, but it's for the FL to seek happiness without the "grudge" holding her back. Like the day they got marry, the mom's uncle said, that she finally let the past generation's grudge behind. It's for her, not him. Secondly I also think dad is not like WTY for one thing. WTY and dad both cheated, but WTY actually tried to kill FL in her past life to save himself. Dad didn't do that. I think as far as cheating karma, both Wang Xin Yue suffered from an unhappy marriage. But for Wang Xing Yue, her karma is more because she actively wanted FL's life, and in the process, got a lot of people killed. That's blood karma on her hand. And the biggest difference between dad and WTY or Wang Xin Yue is that he actually changed or attempt to make up for past mistake. The latter two characters didn't, but continued to display terrible behavior and mindset.
Some of the villains who made Dou Zhao suffer in her past life have now met their karma. Her fate in this current…
Agreed. It's especially satisfying karma for Wang Xing Yue given in Chinese culture they believe that if you do bad, karma will fall on your children, which is worst than falling on themselves. They rather it happens to them. Also, there is this belief that death is not the worst karma, itself is a kind of relief. So the worst karma is one where you still alive, but wishing you were death. A metaphorical death.
The only thing that p!sses me off about this drama is the lack of criticism thrown at the FL' dad... if he didn't…
I think there were plenty of criticism? First the book (of enlightenment in the drama) described him kind of a "deadbeat", and that ill-fortune befalls him the moment he pass the exams. The grandma called him out for being deadbeat, so does the FL. She left him for years, didn't care for his affection, and call him out. Their relationship only got better after he stood up for her. Yes it didn't erased all the mistakes he made but you can't undo the past, you just got to move forward.
Just found this series yesterday and literally binge all episodes in 1.5 days. This is so binge worthy, and is it just me or the dialogues here (especially the FL) slap so much. She get to the point fast and cut her opponent where it hurts.
Wei Tingyue's sister's makeup is terrible. Is it just me?
I thought it was stylistic choice. Her make up is unusually THICKER than the others and DRIER. Especially her under-eyes. I thought it's a reflection of her character, someone who pretends to be grander than they are not. She's putting much more makeup (but probably cheaper) to hide what's underneath (maybe her family's finance situation is stressing her out making her undereye darker, despite you see how much concealer she put there, it's not an appropriate shade.
Cdramaland where women who get a little scratch on their face are ready to off themselves because they are disfigured.
It's sad but probably reflect cultural perspective at the time. Even men with scars on the face can be considered "disfigured" and disgraceful as well.
Because for majority of asian drama like this audience are women and a lot of drama writers too, so romance dramas…
Birth rate is not just declining in China. The capitalistic systems is nearing its peak and the whole world is suffering from its consequence. Instead of blaming on individuals and symptoms, it's better to address the cause. I suggest you should start reading about birth rate declining in the rest of the world as well. This is nothing new. In early 2000s, population theorist have already predicted that population will peak around 11B by 2050-2060, with the major cohort being Millenials, Gen Z and Alpha. Countries that used to be blamed for overpopulation in the 80s and 90s like China, India and Africa have already reached their replacement rate around early 2000s.
Declining birth rate has already be predicted a long time ago. Although the US have not make a big deal yet in the media, US birth rate has already been dropping below replacement in 2003-2004, that's why colleges are starting to see declining students admission because the young that are suppose to go to college today is getting less year by year.
As for medias, it's only following people's sentiments, not leading it. Denial of realities can only last so long before reality collapsing around you. Considering on how long sentiments over there has changed, it's quite late for Cdramas to finally adapt the realities, and you mostly see this more in idol dramas cater toward young female audience because the other types are heavily regulated. There are many type of dramas, and idol dramas are just one genre. There are many family C-dramas as well, but they are often filled with a lot of Communist propaganda so it doesn't get popular in the West.
Out of 100 dramas, like 98 of them the FL want to get marry. It's only in 2024 that they start producing more female-empowerment dramas and it's still the minority of dramas. It's a reflection of the modern world and people's thinking. Dramas at the end of the day is a business and it caters to its audience.
I don't get it. Does dou ming live in the same residence as her SIL? Even if she does her SIL has wayyyyy too…
It seemed like the SIL come back often. Like her useless husband said, someone is overstaying. He's a Duke so that's a title inherit by the oldest son. The SIL already "married out" so by common logics, she shouldn't be there. And like the useless husband said, Dou Ming is the real matron of the house, not the daughter that's already married. Dou Ming is too soft. If it's was Dou Zhao she would have put the SIL in place.
