I found the show entertaining and funny. I really liked Go Ara in this. But, like everyone else was mystified by the weird ending. Almost as if they changed the ending last minute for some reason. Maybe a producer takes a look at it and goes - nope that's too sad, make it happy - and so they add this bit about him faking his death for 5 years and she is so gullible she just goes along with it. Strange indeed.
I was hoping they would have pursued the 3 spoons more, I was really liking that storyline.
Looks like I might be the only one here who thinks it was way too long. For me a lot of the side stories aren't that interesting and the drama doesn't get going until episode 10. The big selling point of this show in my opinion was the uniqueness of the relationship between Wol Joo, Kang Bae, and Chef Gwi, which really doesn't get revealed until episode 10 of the drama. Had they written this differently focusing on those relationships then I think it would have been a lot more interesting to me.
I found this to be a very boring series. I made it to episode 7 and then just skipped to 16 and found that the story hadn't changed at all. And then I skipped through 16 to finally see what happens.
The love story was crucial to it, the very reason for JYS's actions is her love and the turning point for PSR…
When they got together in the show as a couple in the last episodes of the show, I thought wait a minute, that doesn't add up. What you saw as subtle clues in regards to Sae Royi's feelings for Yi Seo, I saw as simply his feelings for a friend. Sae Royi demonstrated that type of affection for everyone that worked for him, he was that type of person.
Yi Seo definitely had feelings for him and definitely want to try a relationship with him, there is no disputing that, there are many scenes showing this interest she has in Sae Royi. But there are no scenes that distinctly and clearly show that Sae Royi had a love interest in Yi Seo before they got together - again what you saw as those indicators, I disagree. What I did see was Yi Seo showing a lot of interest towards Soo Ah, and to me that was main romance of the show. And by that I mean there was foreshadowing in the early episodes that indicated his interest in Soo Ah.
They should have showed him early on thinking about Yi Seo in a way that demonstrated to me that he was contemplating the idea of falling in love with her. This could have taken place early on in the series after Yi Seo stopped Sae Royi from kissing Soo Ah. They could have maybe showed Sae Royi looking at Yi Seo in a different way that indicated that he was developing feelings for her - foreshadowing, but they didn't. Instead Sae Royi always treated Yi Seo as a little sister.
The story did portray Yi Seo as being desperate in the sense that she kept longing after a guy who repeatedly turned her down for how many years? Was it at least 7 years if not more? How many girls would keep pining after someone for that long?
And Sea Royi was a like a stone wall - that was his character - notice the cartoon introduction of the characters - he was an archetype who was unbending and determined to accomplish his task no matter what - the ultimate good guy versus bad guy scenario - just like in the comic books. Romance wasn't really a big part of his life, except when it came to Soo Ah. The main story was the revenge story, the romance stories were side stories.
Maybe you should stop reading into the story what you hoped was there, and face the reality that the love story between Sea Royi and Yi Seo just wasn't believable.
I liked this drama a lot, but you did bring up some great points about it not finishing great. For me the brothers were very annoying and ruined an otherwise very good story.
Which romance are you talking about because there were a number of romances going on. Are you talking about Park Hong Doon and Lee Ji Ahn?
I gave this an 9.0 because of its unique plot and how well the main story was told. I would have given it more but the brothers side story drove me up the wall most times
Kim Hak Moon is the second male lead in a way, he doesn't figure that large in the story. But his love affection for Lee Soo Kyung is part of the comedy of the show since she thinks he's a total jerk, and he is totally smitten by her. I guess it is cliche in the sense that he is the outsider in the triangle and takes his best shot at winning her love, but is always the third wheel.
I see I am not the only one who thought the time lines and crossing between the two worlds didn't make much sense. The last episode was ridiculous with them traveling around to other worlds just for the fun of it I guess, not sure why that was happening.
I agree with the unlikely sudden change in character of Jung Tae Eul where she went from being a tough cop needing no one, to suddenly being all lovey dovey towards Yi Gon. It was extremely weak writing, or lazy writing. And her counter part - Luna, could have been used to create a unique love triangle story among other possibilities. Too bad, it had potential but came up short.
Lee Soo Kyung gets together with Goo Dae Yeong after a long back and forth relationship.
Kim Hak Moon, met Lee Soo Kyung in college and fell in love with her but she doesn't remember him from college. He hires her to work as an administration person in his law firm hoping that one day she will remember him and fall in love with him, but it never happens.
I was hoping they would have pursued the 3 spoons more, I was really liking that storyline.
