What i meant was in the novel the almond scene didn't happen. This almond scene was added in exclusively for the drama. So was wondering what happened in the novel.

I was actually wondering since the full novel name is 星汉灿烂, 幸甚至哉. They used 星汉灿烂 for first part and first part is supposedly largely similar to the novel. But second part is named 月升沧海 and it'll probably deviate quite a bit?

Novel only mentioned her father got shocked by the sudden proposal (which btw happened the same day they cancelled the proposal with LY)and after being urged by uncle wan stammered and agreed.
The parts where mother 'brought her down' happened in private in their own house.
The next day they went to ask the emperor to cancel the proposal and even then the mother didnt say anything :/
