I don't think the 2018 timeline will be ending so soon. It's still late 2018 in the past timeline but from ep1,…
nah the accident had happened at most in February-March 2019 cuz in the first ep JDJ or JGY said that SYK was hospitalised / recovering more than a year. At the moment (2020) it is mid spring, maybe early summer (doubt it) or autumn judging by their clothes. So, if the accident took place in December 2019, it should be 2021 timeline.
screenwriters did a whole u-turn with the plot lol in the first ep it was just something like DOTS - about rangers' job and stuff but with slightly supernatural touch (ML's visions) to ghosts and serial killers in next 3 eps lol. I'm into this change but it was little bit unexpected judging by genres that were listed. I think this turn in story made people to lower ratings. Nevertheless, good drama.
I don't think anyone is innocent in this world, and I think that's the conclusion of the drama. They are all either…
maybe i incorrectly conveyed it but i tried to say the same thing. 'here are many reasons and layers to every person's actions' - i tried to say that we don't know everything about person's past and experience, so we shouldn't jump to conclusions but understand others actions because in the end we are all people and we can make mistakes in this crooked world that can just chew us up and spit out without any mercy.

yeah i understand it. writers wanted to show us that in this f*cked up world it's just impossible being innocent and stay yourself while trying to bring justice or even just live your life . but still gaon is not the one to condemn people for their crime cuz he did the same. he should understand that the world is not black and white, and there are many reasons and layers to every person's actions. he shouldn't blindly accuse people and try to understand them. understanding is the most valuable thing in this world
ah, and why gaon blame yohan for crimes? is he that innocent? he tried to kill a person (not once but twice), he used listening device, he entered someone's house. he is not in a place to judge others
ok judging from gaon's view - what was the reason of killing soohyun? ok, she so called found the truth about his past. so what? Will she tell everyone that he is a murderer? no one would believe + he could easily refute them. will gaon betray him? ok gaon all the way doubted yohan. yeah he started believe him but overall their relationship was all the way like this - doubting and misunderstandings nothing new. ah, and yohan could have refute her findings as well - he could just bring evidences or even blame foundation. so, in the end there was no reason for yohan to kill sohyun. i always tried to understand gaon's perspective and actions but this just make me furious. what the hell, writers? was it just a drama for sake of drama? you had a chance to make them a team that can beat anyone but nah let's just make characters stupid and naive
What was the reason of adding SooHyun as a female lead? At the end she was just a love interest that was friend zoned almost all the time. Her death just made everything back to square one. Writers did not reveal anything about her investigation of YoHan. We just saw several scenes that established her character as lawful (saving innocent people) yet close minded (targeted only YoHan and did not suspect the Foundation even a bit). Nothing more, we saw her almost as much as K who is a support character. She had the potential to be the 'light' in this f *cked up world, lawful policewoman She could easily become some kind of a hero, not this stubborn useless detective.
i know that many viewers don't like GaOn, so i wanted to try to analyze what makes him so inconsistent and even…
i think he is portrayed the more humane compared to other characters: he is sometimes clueless, make way too many mistakes, naive. but this does not make him any justice - why he even became a judge in this world? what he wanted to do if he is so mentally weak? He is just like a little kid. with his personality he should be teacher or doctor, not a judge who can be around rotten high ups and see the dark side of politics.
i know that many viewers don't like GaOn, so i wanted to try to analyze what makes him so inconsistent and even annoying. 1) He is somewhat emotionally unstable - he can be easily swayed by events and just lose his mind in nick of time (the scenes with kids reenacting flogging, the scenes in prison (though this understandable - it is his lifetime trauma that can't be cured). In these moments he is just really vulnerable and can be easily manipulated. 2) He is hotheaded - we can see it from his childhood scenes , scenes with DYC and so on. it does not make him any good. he just brings himself to dangerous events, so he usually in need to be saved. 3) he is alone and REALLY naive - remember what ahjumma in Yohan's house said about Elijah? She said that Elijah easily trusts people who acts good towards her. The same thing is for GaOn - this comes from point 2. The moment he is 'saved' he easily trusts and believes anyone - his prof who helped him, Soohyun, Yohan. They saved him in various ways - emotionally and even physically, so he starts to trust them blindly and just stops thinking and acting by himself, without help. 4) He just can't find himself - we know that he wants to fight evil with lawful actions but he saw himself that this 'evil' can't be even shaken by law 'cuz they are law themselves. So, he ended up with yohan (the easiest and the most efficient way) though he tried to be himself and not become like yohan and foundation jerk. but you see that crime can lead only to other crimes, so it was natural for him to start slowly turning into devil himself. The only thing that i can't understand why he said that he wanted to do everything to stop them but did not consider the fact that he was going to commit crimes. How could he be the same 'pure' little boy? He needs to grow up and act more mature. He needs to just start thinking himself (though sometimes he does) and not believe blindly everyone he trust.
I think this drama is good. there are some annoying parts (like Sun Ho being kinda stubborn to understand his wrongdoings, Dong Man being sometimes literal moron AND this cringey close-ups). Waiting for new eps!
