Hi, thanks for the great info :)Do you still know where you read the interview in wich the Sep. 12 incident was…
At that time I had a lot of information about CLOY from various news sources and articles, but I am not doing proper or real research and that's why I am really happy and grateful that you did it :) I got that information from an article that came from the official news portal source in Indonesia, namely CNN. https://www.cnnindonesia.com/hiburan/20200217193956-220-475483/kisah-nyata-di-balik-crash-landing-on-youAt that time I tried to find more information, but I failed because I found an obstacle that I couldn't read Hangeul and Korean at all.I also read BBC news here, there are also interviews from North Korean defectors. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-51526625And I watched Youtuber Kang Nara's video who thinks that the depiction of North Korea in this drama is 60% closer to the original here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8vuc9ed4r . CNN is one of the most trusted official news portals here, but since I haven't done any in-depth research, I would be very happy if you find validation or even inaccuracy from your research results. I will be very grateful so I know the facts are verified. Again, thank you so much for providing us a great article :)
I am very grateful that at MDL there are people who give more attention and effort to dig deeper information about the phenomenal CLOY drama. Previously, when the drama was airing, I had read some info and facts about CLOY.
Launching by HanCinema, Park Ji-eun wrote the script for Crash Landing On You because it was inspired by the incident that occurred on September 12, 2008, in which a ship carrying an actress was accidentally carried away to the demilitarized zone of North Korea. The incident was actually appointed as a serial of Ji Mang-aeng's works on Daum, the South Korean portal, in 2012-2013. The difference between the two series is that the main character in Daum is a ballerina, while Park Ji-eun's version is the heir to a conglomerate. Park Ji-eun admitted that she changed the ship to paragliding because the concept had already been elevated to the screen and films, one of which was the film The Net. Shee considered that paragliding is considered to provide a stronger story because of relaxing activities. Park Ji Eun said that this allowed the two characters to connect with each other.
In terms of the similarity between the real condition and drama, a Youtuber Kang Nara (she is a former resident of North Korea who now lives in South Korea) thinks that the depiction of North Korea in this drama is 60% closer to the original. Starting from the houses of the inhabitants, the army uniforms they wear, even small details are also very concerned with the original.
Several defectors interviewed admitted that the situation in North Korea was actually reflected in Crash Landing on You. The drama reminds the defector who was not named when he was still living in North Korea.
"I watched a lot of dramas and films about North Korea. But Crash Landing on You really stands out because it is realistic, especially when living in rural areas," said the defector as reported by the Korea Herald on Monday (20/1).
Btw thank you so much for providing good research and a place to have a warm discussion :)
wow i didn't know that the story is a true one !!! thanks for the info
lol I used that GIF because that scene was my most favorite BTS. I don't understand anymore, they were shooting a very tense shooting scene at that part, between life and death, why did Hyun Bin deliberately and mischievously ignore Ye Jin, who was very ready to launch her mellow dialogue. It's surprising that a serious and cold man like Hyun Bin teases Ye Jin so often and looks very satisfied when he succeeds :3
CLOY is the best modern rom-com drama I have ever seen! ^^
Just like CLOY, I watch WFKB when the drama was airing. I still remember the exact time & place when I watched them since I rarely watch dramas when the drama hasn't finished broadcasting. So, both of them are special dramas for me since I patiently wait for their 2 episodes per week. As I am a big fan of strong female lead and hardworking character, of course Kim Bokjo is one of my fav character. Especially I really really love her swaag style! XD But, in term of storyline, I find WFKB like the other rom-com sport drama, it has some predictable plot. On the other side, CLOY is a masterpiece for me because it really presents a complete package. IMO its very difficult to put so many genres into 16 episodes of 1 drama, but the fact is CLOY has everything on it. Bussiness, action, romance, comedy, family, military, melodrama and friendship. I can't find any orher modern drama that have all of those genres in them. Its unpredictable plot makes all feelings mixed into one when watching it; exciting, fun, romantic, touching, sad, worrying and even tense. Therefore, CLOY is the best modern rom-com drama for me since it is really a complete package of a gem! :)
