i thought to do all that, got mad, then started transcribing LOL i'm impatient and i can just use my eyes and hands to write the characters i see...then translate them out. That's what i did but i'm a barbarian.
Yes the A or Ah before or after a "house name / close name" is to show closeness with whoever it is your talking to. It is indiscriminate of sex...so anyone can address anyone with A. It just sounds wyyrd if you're a tough guy and call someone A-sth. Like we know Lan Xichen has a "closeness" (woooo) with MengYao based on the fact he calls him A-Yao. Subsequently, "xiao小 means little/small and yes you can throw that at the front of someone's name too...but it can seem rude in public.
Good for you, finishing in 4 days. XD. Now you can join us in this rabbit hole. Here are what you can do next…
She's right! @deiu !! I have LEGIT made Lotus & Pork a STAPLE in mah house now. My roomies are like "where'd you get this recipe"...i almost cried mentioning SiJie WHAAAAAA!!!
Yes. Pretty much all of the C-dramas broadcast with Mandarin subs now so you can pause the screen, take out a scratch sheet or a notebook or a google docs, open up your LINE dictionary app, draw out each character in the app and learn what it is. i started with Ice Fantasy. (that script is really repetitive so it's kinda easy) Then translated Ten Miles Of Peach Blossoms. (much harder but still helpful). You can do your fave drama. :)
LAWD GURL I NOTICED THAT THE DAY OF! GOT UP OUTTA MY BED!!! AND RERAN THAT PART 15-20 GOOD TIMES BEFORE I WAS LIKE..........i'm having the most inappropriate thoughts about this human right now...i should stop. XD
I also suggest familiarizing yourself with: Appellations (Gege, Didi, Zufu, A-"somebody's name"; filler words; and the may way to say yes and no. That ALONE will teach you ALOT about the culture. ;) Sorry if i sound invested. I really love languages. especially Chinese.
Download LINE also...trust me you're gonna need it those times when you can't copy and paste Hanzi easily. With LINE you can just draw it with minimal regard to stroke order. ;)
Oh hold on wait a minute?! Are His Highness the Wolf AND Joy of Life BOTH premiering this Fall/Winter!? Cuz wouldn't that be wyyrd to see XZ in two roles at the same time. I mean it's working for Yi Li tong...so i don't see why not.
if i could keep a dag'on VPN log enough i'd set up a freaking weibo. I always click on a link, start reading, then 4 minutes later. GREATFIREWALL. it's aggravating.
I realized we Suibians have become something of a family after spending so much time talking about CQL and everything…
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA i hate it. I hate everything i'm feeling it's like everyone's dispersing this week and all my summer excitement and pandemonium is going silent. I hate it! :stompsfoot:
I use duo / easy chinese / Line / Yabla / mandarincorner on youtube. It really helps just to listen to anything with mandarin speakers in it. Also translating the dramas we're already watching just for reference, syntax and what not is fun...and enlightening. There such deep meaning in all the Hanzi. I wouldn't go walking around talking to ppl like you're out of a drama--that'd be wyyrd--but it's fun to know and can always keep you interested. But I'm also relearning Japanese and Korean, so knowing Chinese is helping "carry" those languages for me anyway.
