only books? there are documentaries, youtubers, films, and DRAMAS too as I said I learn from defectors, they know from first hand how the life was there and there are north korean defectors youtubers who helped south korean actors, writers and directors, when north korea is involved in kdramas production they always ask for help from famous defectors like Nara and the one who helped hyunbin's nk accent (I forgot his name) this was definitely a good drama some people where expecting a happy ending, but it showed a bit how was the situation in the 80s you can learn a few things like it wasn't until north korea famine in 1994 that the south would receive north koreans as their people before that we know about the spy cases and even til 2017, but is not as before so we can learn a few things, from crash landing on you too, dramas are good in some aspects like from the reply series when can learn how was south korea life in the 90s

some of us are really interested in politics, north and south korea relations, I'm currently interested in defectors life after scaping from the regime.

I think it was made accordingly to the period of time we are living it, in this generation we are more aware of bullying and other stuffs compared to the Japanese and Korean versions that were filmed in the 2005 - 2009 that's why I felt that meteor garden was out of date in these kind of situations when it was released in 2018... up until now, the Thai version is doing well.

Same, I've been watching dramas for 7 years and 16 episodes are enough that's why I watch mostly kdramas or jdramas (which are even shorter), but c-dramas get so boring with 45 episodes and there are a lot episodes that don't contribute anything to the plot.
