I noticed the break in the story with jade too. I have been wondering why they didn't conclude her carving. Why did they even put that scene in if it's not relevant? My thoughts as well, giving someone your last penny and trusting them to take a long journey on your behalf. Let alone bring back the goods. Not reasonable time line.
