Reading some of the reviews and there are those who gives 10s on every category in the reviews “acting, music,…
@Pranksalot OMG RIGHT. Just out of curiously I went to look why everybody ranked this drama 10/10 and found it was mainly bias related. I even said it in my own review “even if your bias, it doesn’t change the amount of plot holes and bad writing this drama had ...” It’s crazy.

I really hope this one does not end up like Melting me softly... Ji Chang Wook has so much potential, he’s such…
Dude, Melting Me Softly was not the best drama, by a long shot, and I love JCW, rooting this one is better otherwise he’s gonna have a very bad drama year, he’s a fantastic actor!

The drama hasn't aired yet but already judging. Lol. Pergh.
That’s usually how it goes ... Lol it’s unfortunate because there was once a time people wouldn’t bash a show until AFTER it finished airing, not anymore fam, sad.

This is probably the only place that has so many toxic comments from toxic people, like how can you judge this…
AMEN

I have seen the first look and trailer of this drama and I am not elated. One of the poster of BR with ensemble…
I honestly agree, I feel JCW has been in a rough spot in dramas since he came back from the military, and non so far has been stellar, idk what’s going on

And to think some people belittled others intelligences just for this drama...
Well, even though I personally didn’t like this drama, I won’t belittle somebody because I didn’t like it lol, that’s just rude

Look I’m not gonna sugar coat it, because I took the time to watch the entire series before judgment, but I also won’t be disrespectful in my response, and in “short:”

This was by far one of the worst kdramas of 2020, and I’ve seen 70+
here’s why:

I sat and watched every episode thinking I’d get answers to the questions I had by the end of the drama, but I didn’t. I sat every episode thinking why is this pacing off?
Why don’t I feel chemistry?
Why is the villain so weak (especially in the last couple episodes, like the dude was on his knees ... What ... The personality is saw in ep. 1 wasn’t the guy kneeling)?
Why aren’t we getting more details about the time travel?
Why aren’t there repercussions in the time travel?
MORE IMPORTANTLY WHY DO I HAVE TO LOOK UP DISCUSSIONS ON HERE AND THE REST OF THE INTERNET TO FIGURE THE PLOT OUT? So many things ...
Even worse, there were so many episodes that could’ve been classified as filler, because they did absolutely nothing for the plot or the characters, especially after ep. 5+
Ep. 16 and everything leading up to the finale and big showdown could be classified as anti-climatic and the end was anything BUT satisfactory, more wasteful tbh, and no amount of loving the leads can change the fact there were too many plot holes to manage by the time the end finally happened. It’s such a shame this drama didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to, because it had an amazing cast, but man were they wasted ... Woo Do Hwan was the only good thing this drama has to offer. This is all IMO, but for all the folks that are too scared to watch it because of the crappy reception, I’d say give it a shot because you won’t know what you think until you watch it, that’s what I’ve got.
THE POSITIVE: nobody can deny the amazing cinematography this show had to offer, no one, or Woo Do Hwan’s performance.

I think we learned from About Time that you can’t easily put mental illness in a drama without it being really…
I was thinking the same thing, I hope they address it properly!

@jayxyz Omg I’m so excited! You don’t see a gender bent Alice often XDDD

No, it’s not just you lol, they look fairly similar XD

I’m on the same boat, it’s becoming a chore watching eternal monarch.
Indeed. “Magical glasses” lmao! And dude that is what kdramas are coming to ... Two popular actor/actresses are in a scene together and everyone automatically thinks they have chemistry ... And that’s when I’d go “what do the ratings tell you then?”

To people commenting on how bad the age gap is: it’s really not, he’s in his thirties and she’s in her early twenties, big deal, it’s the 21st century, in the damn 1800’s people would marry at fifteen to someone who’s thirty or older and you think this is bad? Come on ... If anything should be an issue in this drama, it’ll be the way they act together on screen, if there is no chemistry, idgaf what age they are period. Whether one of them is older or younger doesn’t matter, if they can sell a romance, than we’re good. That’s what actors and actresses are SUPPOSED to do, ACT. They both have a good reputation in their acting skills, so I have no regrets in saying I’m super excited for this, hope I’m not the only one.

@Pranksalot “I might as well finish what I started,” tell me about it ... That’s me at this point, and idk why the hell people on YouTube aka, the Swoon, are saying that LG and TE have chemistry, because I’m over here like where??? Lol, I’ll recommend this drama to people for the cinematography, and WDH’s character, but that’s about it fam

@Pranksalot literally, all these spot on points are making me question whether or not I should continue to watch this show ... I’ve never stopped midway with a kdrama before, EVER, to respect the actors and actresses with their work, I always finish a drama and then rate my opinion because if I’m gonna get real, that’s the best opinion you’re ever gonna get, from someone who’s finished it, there’s just a lot going on in this drama that with the remaining four episodes, they’re not going to be able to fix ...
also:
- the prime minister was indeed a waste of a character so far, hope that changes
- TE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A TOUGH BADASS CHARACTER AND THEY DID HER DIRTY, AND SHE CANT EVEN EXCEPT HER FEELINGS FOR LG YET. EP 11 PROVED THAT. STILL DON’T SENSE OR SEE THE CHEMISTRY. No matter how many times they’ve kissed, I still can’t feel it man. Idk why. Tell me it’s not just me ...

Title Mystic Pop-Up Bar Spoiler
I’m on the same boat, it’s becoming a chore watching eternal monarch.
My god. The female characters are lacking soooo much in this show, like my god, we get introduced to a lead female character that knows martial arts, but even with her training we see the same moves over again, then we get another who’s a politician, but literally she has no purpose in her visits with the king, like nothing happens in the plot of the story with practically any of her scenes, ep. 11 ... Was, not the best. Especially that rescue scene that looked like it was a chip off the CGI block ... WDH is the best and only good thing to happen to this show so far, and the cinematography, but that’s about it :(

Damn. I agree, and respect your opinion! I personally didn’t think his acting was the greatest in this show either, and the lead females acting as well ... If I’m gonna get real, I think the only interesting character in this show so far is Woo Do Hwan’s, both in the Corea world, and regular. His acting has been pretty great so far, and if I’m gonna be honest, he’s one of the reasons I’m still watching, but that’s just me :) he’s a very talented actor and I hope he gets more lead roles!

You know something, I didn’t even want to think this series would turn out bad, not once, I’m a Lee Minho fan, and I support most of his works, but something about this one just didn’t work out for me. I don’t think it’s the actors or actresses fault either, I think it’s the pacing, bad writing, and loss of plot, what happened to the whole flute plot you know? What they started with? What happened to closing the gate? There’s only like what, five episodes left, and that isn’t enough time even with an hour episode to fix the plot they first gave out, quite frankly develop all the characters we were introduced to. Everything is so messyyyyyy, and it sucks because I really wanted to enjoy this drama, but the romance doesn’t have any chemistry and I feel I’m loosing interest each episode. Man. I’m so disappointed ...
