Kim Hyeyoon is one of the biggest factors that contributed to Lovely Runner’s success.
As told by the scriptwriter Lee Shi Eun herself, the script was written for Kim Hyeyoon. She was the first choice for the FL. Not only is she a natural beauty, her top notch acting and her chemistry with all cast members are one of the biggest reasons that pushed this drama to be as successful as it is now.
Byeon Wooseok said that he learned a lot from her. He said she’s the one that lead him to successfully embrace his character.
Jung Youngjoo who played the FL’s mother, said that KHY was burned out (due to the shooting delay and other issues), but when the shooting started, she fully became Sol. She also praised KHY for nailing micro-expressions acting in LR.
Without Kim Hyeyoon AND Byeon Wooseok as Im Sol and Ryu Sunjae, AND all cast, the amazing chemistry, the directors, the production team and the music which made this drama with normal plot become extraordinary, this drama wouldn’t have been as successful.
Just wanna rant here because this is basically a Subeom space. 😆TBH, I don’t really ship actors & actresses…
There were some issues regarding WooHye shippers vs non-shippers on Twitter/X couple days ago.
I stand with the ones who said there’s nothing wrong with shipping, as long as we know our limits. Non-shippers don’t need to throw hate at shippers who don’t cross boundaries. And don’t generalise all shippers to be the same.
To get off this WooHye ship once I boarded, is very hard. So I’m just gonna support them from afar and pray for the best. It’s their lives, anyway.

TBH, I don’t really ship actors & actresses IRL, usually. But IDK, the way Byeon Wooseok & Kim Hyeyoon interact and look at each other make it hard for me to control myself from shipping them.
The LR cast interviews, Korean and Indonesian Subeoms don’t help much either. 😭

Writer Lee Shi Eun has become one of my favourite & trustworthy Kdrama scriptwriters. I enjoyed Top Star Yoo Baek, True Beauty, and now Lovely Runner.
If she has dramas in the future, I’ll definitely watch without second thoughts (hopefully her future dramas are directed by good directors too!). 💕
