Fun series. Kinda reminded me of Fargo. I liked that it didn't take itself too seriously and was earnest about whatever it attempted. Doubt it'll hold up if I watched it a second time, coz the timeline is probably borked. Stuff like how two girls, one of whom recently attempted suicide, were able to load 4 chests containing men on to their truck without it taking too long or drawing suspicion. One of those chests was also empty, so it's unlikely that Toom wouldn't have noticed that John was missing and that the chest was open. You could still have the story stay consistent by believing that Toom did realize this, but that it didn't change any of her actions. John's revival was mostly inconsequential and just for a karmic gag, after all. I do think Toom would've reacted differently to one of her dead bodies going missing, so I'd have appreciated if the show acknowledged it. Regardless, I'm still high on this. Would recommend.
Jung Hyun being money catcher caught me off guard. I guess I relied too heavily on the Secret Nights and Jung Hyun's Secret Night was too early to give an accurate clue. In any case, revealing one person's identity instead of holding eliminations is easily an upgrade to this show's format.
As for how they're doing the final selections and identity changes... I'm not a fan. Being able to change your identity after you already have a partner... it's kinda lame? That's a kind of rule you put in just so you can manufacture "twists". I much prefer how they did it in earlier seasons, where everyone got a chance to change and it was announced how many people did, well in advance of the final selection. Either go back to that or remove the ability to change identity. Since this is more than just a dating show, it shouldn't be so easy to change last minute.
I also feel this last episode is going to be dragged out coz there's so little left to happen. It's going to be a slog to watch.
Are they allowed to change?Thats what I'm anxious about. If so then...If Soo Ro get to know early like the next…
They probably will be allowed to change, but if Soo Ro finds out before that, I think he'll feel very betrayed and start doubting her. They'll probably still pick each other in the end regardless, so... probably doesn't matter too much, unless Seung Yeon works wonders in the last 2 episodes (unlikely).
In my comment last week, I thought this last episode wouldn't change much about my opinion of this show. I was wrong, because this last episode was so bad, my opinion of the show has dropped even further. I couldn't have cringed harder if I tried at all of the nonsense that was stuffed into this finale. I mean, really... There was so much BS here, I've probably memory-holed certain things already.
Just right off the bat, I think it's safe to say that you shouldn't believe ANYTHING that happened in this show. I suspect a good deal of the cast were just hired and instructed to act according to a set storyline (a very bad one, at that). I wouldn't even believe any couple photos that were on social media coz it's all likely staged.
We can start with Chae Hui showing up in Egeon's room on the final night... WHY? Until last week, I was ready to just give her the benefit of the doubt and accept it as her being very immature, but no. I don't believe for a second that she's so dense that she'd try her luck yet another time. This is very transparently just the justification they wanted to have Egeon to pivot off of Soyeon.
Speaking of Egeon, his relationship with Soyeon? Very sus. Do I think the producers are capable of rigging a relationship between Egeon and Soyeon? Absolutely. Coz what's the alternative? Egeon and Lana just stick together for the rest of the show with 0 drama? Soomin and Chaehui have nothing to do for the rest of the show? Nah, they scripted this so everyone had some part to play. It's laughable that they want us to believe this drivel.
Soyeon, imo, is maybe just entirely a studio plant. Based on her provocatively forced body language towards the start, to her being used to fill in any blanks the show might have (basically jumping from man to man until they used her to force the main storyline with Egeon), I don't believe anything about her.
The elephant in the room is Lana accepting Soomin in sort of a fairy tale ending. You can see by Lana's body language that she's still really uncomfortable around Soomin. For 7 episodes, she rejected him over and over, very unambiguously. Soomin even decided to give up on her at one point... But then the producers stepped in and restarted the whole thing to force this "his sincerity won her over" nonsense. Again, if it was this easy to win over a girl like Lana, there must be some real funny shit in the air over at the Eden house. "I just kept stalking this one girl and eventually she started liking me and then even picked me over the guy who gave up another girl to be with her." How do they expect me to believe this...
I don't believe the Seo ah x Kang Rae coupling either. You mean to tell me Seo ah told Kang Rae she's not interested in him romantically, but then the next night, she did a complete 180? Also, is this the only trick the producers know? Soomin had given up, then he suddenly started pursuing Lana again. Same with Chaehui and Egeon. It's like they had a plan, but things went wrong and they just went with the old plan anyway.
Maybe the only one who wasn't scripted is Dohyun, coz I don't think any amount of money or exposure is worth looking like the creep that he looked like. I mean, did you see him throwing a fit when it was decided that people could swap rooms? Just emotionally charge the situation to make a more considerate person like Seo ah feel forced to stay with you against her wishes... Yeah, this guy is a douche. A better person would've given her some space the moment he got rejected over a creepy kiss. Then again, the producers could've pushed him to keep pursuing her anyway... Dude, this show is such a joke.
This show reminds me of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, where the writing incorporates in twists and subversions into the story just for the sake of it. Surely, it's an insane story if the audience is just hit with twist after twist... RIGHT?
Nope. I feel second hand embarrassment for this show.
In a way, the silver lining is that I can point people to this show when they talk about how rigged other dating shows are. The fans of those shows don't know how bad it can get.
It's kinda crazy how Jin Young and Seulki kept missing each other. If he had one proper talk with her, this love hexagon would've been done. Then again, him not being express himself openly just further cements how he really just has eyes for Seulki. I dunno... Seeing Seulki and Jin Young just sit together, not even talk that much and yet have a deeper bonding session than her with Jung Woo over 2 whole days... Yeah, I'll be annoyed if these two don't match.
Jung Woo finally gets to go on his date. It'll be interesting to see if Seulki falls for him. He came out looking the best after that royal rumble game and that could've caused hearts to flutter. He would definitely need that sort of thing to win her over, coz I could sense that Seulki was responding to his advances primarily out of gratitude for him taking care of her on Inferno.
So many things I am confused about...1) I don't know if its just me but I'm am confused why half of the MCs wanted…
1) That's not how a potential So E x Yoong Jae date would go at this point. I don't think So E's the kind of girl who'd try her luck again after being completely rejected. I think she said that she considered Yoong Jae for getting closure. She's also said that she's essentially given up on finding a match in this show and she's only looking for friendship at this point. It's clear she's still getting over Yoong Jae, which is likely why she wasn't able to let Se-Jun into her heart. I think the MCs were just siding with her going with her heart. Do I think the date would be very awkward? Yeah. But I don't think So E would make Yoong Jae uncomfortable by asking him to consider her as an interest again. Han-Bin was the easiest choice. As it was said, you can basically see this as her officially giving up on finding a match.
2) The MCs are probably just deliberately obtuse at times and have reactions that play up a narrative. In this case, the narrative was "woah, 3 girls want the same guy. what's gonna happen?", so it's better to keep that storyline alive than just get to the bottom of this whole drama and say "Jin Young's obviously just interested in Seul-ki".
3) Jin Young's somewhat mysterious and manly in more ways than most. There's this thing where, the more people are into you, the more attractive you appear. He also openly mingled with anyone who wanted to talk to him and seemed to charm the socks off of them. His competition is also kinda weak? Like, Han Bin is too passive. Jong Woo has only shown interest in one girl. Yoong Jae's the same. Se Jun entered too late. Really, the only one to contest Jin Young with girls like Nadine, Min Su and Se Jeong should've been Dong Woo, but for whatever reason the girls don't find him appealing (Nadine did, but he basically pushed her aside coz she's his junior). His screentime has dropped off a cliff after his short stint with Seulki. So yeah... Jin Young's popular.
Her being invited to Secret Night doesn't exonerate her. They only said "you are talking to a money catcher".…
Yeah... I'm definitely leaning towards her being MC. She pretty much admitted that all that matters to her is who is MC and who is LC, which is a very MC mindset to have. She shouldn't put this before her own feelings.
I thought Sooji was confirmed a Love Catcher during the first secret night? Why does the panel still think she…
Her being invited to Secret Night doesn't exonerate her. They only said "you are talking to a money catcher". They didn't say anything about the invitee. I'm guessing each money catcher was given the chance to invite one person. It would defeat the purpose of the game if the money catchers were also given info about who was a love catcher.
I kinda enjoyed watching Tae Eun sweating bullets, though it should be said that the hosts overdid that whole thing. For instance, I highly doubt the housemates would think Tae Eun is a prime candidate for question 20. It's dumb that they were pushing so hard for it. Getting back to Tae Eun, I'm pretty sure Soo Ro must've noticed how nervous she was the entire day. He probably also had a good idea that Tae Eun could've invited Seung Yeon to Secret Night. It's no wonder he warned her in this episode.
It's also interesting that Soo Ro is so sure Soo Ji is an MC. He could be privy to info that the audience doesn't know (eg. noticing that she was missing when Yong Ho was invited to Secret Night). Soo Ji also just seems like she's not in Bali to find love. It's less about how she feels and more about "Who's the money catcher?" with her. Her answering Yes to Soo Ro's question is also really suspect.
I'm guessing Tae Eun, Soo Ji and Sung Bum are the money catchers right now.
Was pretty deflated by Hyo Jin getting nowhere with Yong Ho. I guess there's nothing much that can be done when Yong Ho has a 98% love for Soo Ji. The Tae Hyuk - Yu Jeong situation is pretty sad too. Another example of late entrants getting shafted. I'm not a big fan of Jung Hyung (mostly coz I'm super biased towards Hyo Jin x Yong Ho), so I don't really like that he's drifting to Hyo Jin. He'll probably get revealed as a LC and manage to charm Hyo Jin as a result. I'll admit, it is a bit sus that Hyo Jin is so easily swayed. There's a chance she's a Money Catcher. Maybe she's counting on LC > MC switch coz Yong Ho is a no-go. Seung Yeon x Soo Ro seems pretty dead. Soo Ro will probably pick Tae Eun even if he's sure she's an MC. I don't suspect Seung Yeon to be an MC. It wouldn't make much sense since she's played a terrible game from the perspective of being a MC the entire time.
It seems there won't be an elimination this time. I guess the dumb eliminations in LC in Seoul taught them that much at least.
True, the question should have gone to HJ on whether she is a MC.. she had already used her "no comments"
Doesn't that just confirm she's a Love Catcher because she's not afraid of getting asked the question? The "no comment" rule doesn't matter either way. No Love Catcher would ever use it on the last question.
there u go a reply for ur Lana preview ''Man i felt for lana. The guy who is obsessed with her decided if he can't…
Yeah, I don't envy her situation. I think she handled Soomin about as well as she could... until she told him he's got a chance. That just feels very odd/fake to me. Besides that, I agree that she's just been going with the wind. I'd like to think she could've approached Egeon earlier and not just wait for them to somehow get paired. I guess the implication is that she gave up on Egeon and was so afraid of ending up alone that she extended an olive branch to Soomin? I still don't buy it.
As for me not liking her, it's purely based on my impression of her and not really based on how she's interacted with people in this show. If she started somewhere at the bottom of my likeability rankings, she's easily near the top by now based on how many of these contestants have made themselves look bad.
Had no idea this show was a thing (didn't watch s1). Saw it listed as a recommendation under Single's Inferno 2 and thought I'd check it out since I'm on sort of a dating show binge. All I can say is that... I was not prepared.
To start, this show seems to be run by some very lecherous producers. I didn't expect a show like this to air in SKorea, but here we are. Immediately, I feel that there's a certain vibe about this show that I don't tend to find in other dating shows. It just feels very manufactured. I think a very clear sign of this is where, towards the start of ep 6, you have Soomin walk into a room where Lana is waiting. He then comments about how cold she must be feeling and brings her a warm blanket. The way this is shot and the two characters included, felt like something out of a Indian soap. There's several of these (probably) scripted segments in this show. Another thing I take issue with is Soyeon. She's definitely playing up how lascivious she is because her gestures just do not make much sense. My first instinct was to wonder whether she was here just to promote her Onlyfans, but I guess that still applies to her tiktok... I'm also kinda put off with how she interacts with the men as though there are no stakes at all. Tinfoil hat theory, she's just a plant meant to steer the show in ways.
The gimmick of the show is to share a room with your match. Unfortunately for the show, a lot of couples just soured instantly. Lana didn't like Soomin's attention. Egeon didn't like Chaehui's attention. Seo ah was repulsed by Dohyun. Now, as a producer, how can you in good conscience let people who are very uncomfortable with each other share a room together? It was already unsettling with Egeon and Chaehui, but I don't want to imagine what Seo ah might have gone through by having to sleep in a room with Dohyun. It just doesn't sit right and I don't like the producers inserting messages to play up the tension or drama as though they've struck entertainment gold when people who really feel uncomfortable being with someone are forced to spend a night with them...
The contestants themselves have behaved bafflingly. I think Chaehui is probably the most understandable amongst the bad apples. I think she's just young and naive. Someone who's never been rejected and couldn't comprehend how a guy just doesn't feel attracted to her. Of course, her not picking up on the fact that Egeon clearly rejected her still feels very fake. I find it hard to believe there was a misunderstanding there.
Soomin's a lot less relatable, imo. We get it. You only like Lana, but she's shot you down multiple times and very unambiguously. I don't know how you just keep trying to force that. Again, I wouldn't want to force someone to spend a night with me if I knew that she felt that way and I guess he understood that too, coz he didn't put Lana through that when he was in power... But then the next night, he's so distraught over not getting paired with Lana? I also find it sus that Lana eventually admits that Soomin's slowly entered her heart? I just find that to be unbelievable in a very literal sense. Can her pride be that hurt about being sidelined by Egeon and not having any men interested in her, that she went crawling to Soomin? Somehow, I still don't buy that.
Dohyun's probably the most daft member of this cast. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he probably misread the situation and obviously had no bad intentions. But then he got explained exactly how Seo ah felt very violated in that situation. At that point, the best you can do is explain yourself and if she still feels uncomfortable being with you, you're done. You don't get to force that relationship again. It'll only make you look like a scumbag. I don't get how this guy doesn't understand basic decency?
I never really liked Lana. Something about her gaze and body language... she carries herself like a very condescending person, but maybe that's just me. Regardless, I don't think she did anything untoward during the show, considering the competition. Maybe the producers told her to open up to Soomin to throw in a last minute twist, but that's about it.
Egeon's shift from Lana to Soyeon was kinda bizarre. Not sure I completely buy it. I think he meant it when he said he just wanted to get away from the Soomin-Lana drama and just wanted to have a peaceful date. Have a hard time believing he's being genuine towards Soyeon. I sensed a lot more sincerity when he said he'd only pick Lana going forward. Somehow feels like he's acting with a student of his when he's with Soyeon. Lets just say he'd make for a good Money Catcher if he were on a certain other show. I should give him some credit for being the only person to notice how Kang Rae and Dohyun were suffocating Seo ah though.
Seo ah, initially, seemed very innocent. I think she's the most authentic of this bunch. I like that she essentially went on a story arc where she realized that perhaps she was being too forthcoming towards men and should really explore her own feelings before accepting someone. I like that she rejected Kang Rae. She certainly could've faked a relationship with her for the sake of the show, but didn't. I respect that.
Don't have much to say about Kang Rae. He seems immature. When I look at his blank expression at times, I'm reminded of the concave head Wojak. I think that perfectly encapsulates him.
Soyeon, at least seems to be a fun person irl. She's considerate, despite being the youngest of the bunch. I don't really know if she's seriously interested in finding a partner here. I don't see that urgency in her. She's been treating her matches very nonchalantly. More "oh? this guy likes me? I guess I like him too" than "I like this guy. Let's see if there's something there". There's also all the unnatural behavior she exhibits while she's in a bikini. She's a mixed bag, but still manages to be a highlight amongst this crew.
There's still 1 episode left, but I don't think it'll change my opinions here. Not super keep on checking out season 1 either. I guess I can point people to this show when I hear people say these shows are scripted, coz I certainly haven't seen it get as blatant as it has, in this show. I can say that I liked the hosts at least. Probably good to end this rant on that.
You can watch it on Goplay. It's a private site that you need an invite link to. Type "Goplay discord" into google and the reddit post that shows up on top will have links to either the site directly or the discord group that generates links to access the site.
Seul ki x Jin Young brightened up my day. Certainly one of the better dating show dates I've seen. They're a good match and I like Jin Young's eccentricity in nearly every aspect. I hope he doesn't upset her. That preview and Nadine has me somewhat concerned.
Hoping the So E x Yoong Jae chapter is done. Wasn't a huge fan of how he handled it. He probably shouldn't have given her hope the previous night, now that I've seen what came of it. I keep getting impressed by So E's heart-to-heart conversations though. She deserves better.
New guy and new girl are understandably timid. I get that adding new contestants is an interesting way of shaking things up, but it's usually to the detriment of the show. Last season's new entrants didn't get far, where they probably could have if they had just started from day 1. Episode 6 of 10 is pretty late too. I hope they aren't just background characters in the end. Based on the preview, I guess Yoong Jae might be picked by the new girl? Hoping So E or Se Jeong is picked by the guy.
Se Jeong is being way too passive or rather all the other girls are more aggressive than she is. Jung Woo's chasing after a train that's already left the station, though he's certainly helped his chances by showing concern for Seul ki while Jin Young mingled amongst other girls. Nadine's trying to claw her way into Jin Young's heart, likely just to be disappointed. Dong Woo's on Strike 2. Maybe he shouldn't treat girls like they're his juniors. I still have nothing on Han Bin. You'd think being a chef on a deserted island would boost your appeal, but... results tend to wary.
None of these will be couple outside in real life just like last season is scripted don’t get your hopes up
That's never bothered me. The concept of people being forced to live together in a confined place will never not be intriguing to me. I also doubt it's scripted in a literal sense. There is artificiality in that these people are still on set with cameras and producers, which often nudges them towards acting a certain way for the sake of the show, but I highly doubt you have producers fixing who is attracted to whom and vice versa. I find that there's enough sincerity from moment to moment to latch on to and enjoy the show. I don't have to fixated on what happens after.
I mean... Haneul from LC in Seoul could've switched, but she didn't. Her trying to fool Seung Yeon into thinking Soo Ro is a MC is strategic and arguably devious. She's playing a very good game right now, coz she has Seung Yeon convinced Soo Ro was her Secret Night host. So yeah, it could all be an act and she could walk away with good money. You never know...
I love Tae Eun for showing Yong Ho the light. I'm gonna say Soo Ji and Sung Bum are both Money Catchers and I hope they get matched. Soo Ji's been flip flopping and just looking for someone to confirm a match with her. She seems very artificial and I just didn't see the chemistry that Yong Ho thought he had with her. I loved how Tae Eun found Yong Ho's explanation of connecting well with Soo Ji absurd. Hyo Jin's feelings for him seem a lot more genuine and I hope sparks fly between the two.
Tae Eun herself turned out to be a Money Catcher. I was suspicious of Soo Ro, but I guess I was wrong, unless both Soo Ji and Hyo Jin aren't money catchers, which seems unlikely. Based on the preview, Soo Ro's starting to consider Seung Yeon. I feel it should be obvious to him that if Seung Yeon was invited to Secret Night, the only other person in their love triangle must be a Money Catcher. I'd like to see him switch to Seung Yeon, personally, but it's a long shot.
Was hoping they wouldn't do Eliminations this time. Last season's eliminations were extremely dumb. At least this time, they seem to be discussing who the Money Catchers might be, rather than voting based on gut instinct. I really hope they nail Sung Bum. I feel Jung Hyun and Soo Ji might be considered for flip flopping so much between two interests. Yong Ho could be in trouble as well. Tae Eun is likely safe.
I really liked the vibe of this show, though do be warned that it is far from your conventional dating show. Jae Suk's style of comedy with a civilian cast of contestants is a good concept for a dating show. The cast of contestants is changed every 2 episodes, so you can watch this show bi-weekly to get a full story. I feel people might find that contestants on this show will typically be awkward and nervous because the concept is based around the "first date". I see a lot of charm in exploring this kind of show and am super excited for the coming episodes.
This first episode was used up in introductions, though I tend to enjoy introductions in any dating show so I have nothing to complain about there. The talent showcase is a clever way to really sell you on what kind of person someone is, so I liked that segment. Episode 2 was more meaty. It had that hilarious "roast-my-bedroom" segment. I also liked the lunch box exchange as a means to express interest. The game segment was a bit lacking though. I hope they improve upon that. I feel the show is designed around Jae Suk's style of hosting and I'm glad there's so much interaction between the contestants and the hosts.
Speaking more specifically about the first set of contestants, I was definitely intrigued by Young Im, the reporter who does a perfect Pikachu impression. She was described as an IRL version of Han Sun Hwa's character from "Work Later, Drink Now" (great show, btw. Go watch it) and that's spot on. She seems she's a fun person to be around and I'd have picked her in a heartbeat, but that's just me.
Anyway, thumbs up. Looking forward to meeting some new faces next week. Based on the preview, it seems like things will not be quite as passive as group 1. Should be interesting.
even if soroo is a money catcher, they have an option to change it in the end, so I think he would just switch…
The thing about that is... for a guy his age and profession, I can totally see him faking it for the money. He's essentially choosing between money and a relationship that could fall apart really easily coz of the age gap. What is he committing to? Probably a woman who's looking to get married? And he's 24? Seems tough.

As for me not liking her, it's purely based on my impression of her and not really based on how she's interacted with people in this show. If she started somewhere at the bottom of my likeability rankings, she's easily near the top by now based on how many of these contestants have made themselves look bad.
She was described as an IRL version of
Han Sun Hwa's character from "Work Later, Drink Now" (great show, btw.
