Title Douluo Continent Spoiler
Might've been the most anticlimactic scene I've ever watched in a drama. I thought Tang Hao was going to have…
Tang Hao never had an "epic battle" with Bibi Dong in the book during this part. I haven't seen the finale yet but from what I read in Twitter, their escape is pretty much the same scenes in the book.

I watched this a month ago. I haven't finished it yet so no review from me. But I just wanna say it's legitimately one of the prettiest dramas I've seen so far. The female lead is so pretty too. I really really wanna continue this but I wont because it's a tragedy. I thought that the title was just that, imagine to my surprise it's actually Eastern Palace!!! I already read that novel. Too much heartbreak. But if you're OK with a SE, this is a good drama. I still recommend it.

Typically, when people in costume dramas say "this person is so heavenly/inhumanly/out of this world handsome" Inner me will quietly disagree. At most they're just average or handsome but not overly so. So I instantly like this drama during my first impressions. Not just because of the badass female lead but also because I agree that the male lead's handsomeness is indeed captivating.

Apart from that, this drama is legit fun and cute. The Female lead is quirky without being annoying since her heart is in the right place. I relate to how the siblings talk to each other too. Very refreshing imho. Looking forward to future developments. I'm still in the early episodes.

Thank you so much for giving a positive and honest opinion from a novel reader's point of view. Also thank you…
Who is Wang Juan? And you're welcome. I've been reading fantasy novels my whole life. Anne McCaffrey, Stephen King, George Martin, Tolkein, Erikson, Sanderson, etc. and have seen my fair share of fantasy adaptations as well. So for live actions I actually expect changes rather than a 1:1 copy. If I want a perfect adaptation, that's mainly for standalone/easy to follow works like Sin City, The Godfather or Green Mile.

I'd be angry if they chose to have a lot of fillers or if they have lame action scenes or the overall look/theme is so far from the original like for example Seventh Son (even then, this is still a fun movie if you haven't read the books, that's why it's always better to see adaptations separately), but for this Douluo Dalu drama, there's already a lot of Chekhov's gun right from the start, the magic system is still being followed, known novel scenes are used and there are mentions of relevant characters (take note of them!!!). It's fun for a novel reader.

Title Douluo Continent Spoiler
I'm so happy to come across this drama in WeTV. I was surprised that the Douluo being promoted is THE actual Douluo Dalu I know. Imagine MY SURPRISE. I legit thought it's just similar to how Novoland series were adapted. I'm not that young but I've had nice memories of the novel. I'm glad to see they're sticking close to the book plot, albeit in a super summarized , overlapping way. (I tried the anime before, but some of the female characters were designed with unrealistic standards, so I'm not comfortable with it. Or maybe I'm just too old for their aesthetics? idk)

As for this drama, I noticed that characters who made their entrance in Chapters 100+ are already being introduced in the first few episodes. For me, this works well on TV because
1.) Not everyone have read the novel. Aka my parents and sister. It was my time to shine, I even have to draw how their world building works. Yay!
2.) Not everyone will remember all characters. Recurring characters feels familiar = more emotional investment for me.
3.) Even if they do, do you remember how soap operas before tends to introduce new characters after a few months just so they could lengthen the plot to a few more seasons? If this adaptation followed the novel/anime strictly, it will look like that. I'm sure the anime and some novel fans will be happy if the drama followed this route, that's also neat, I wont negate that. But I personally prefer adaptations to be their own personality, if it's fun enough, and looks cool, as long as it follows the basic structure, it's acceptable for me.

I also appreciated how they've managed to set the stage for the political intrigue quite early. I can already see the puzzles the scriptwriter have made, it will truly come together in the future and I'm excited for it. Will give a rating once I'm done with this.

Nah i tried that manhwa and it bored me so i dropped it
For me, manhwas are a hit / miss. I remember even the manhua adaptation of popular novels like Douluo Dalu and Lord of the Mysteries were horrifyingly bad.

Oh wow this seems to be one gorgeous looking drama. Curious about it but sad to see comments about it being draggy. Can anyone who have finished the drama confirm if the drag parts are worth it? Is it relevant to the plot?

I don’t know why but I felt that the love for Ah li of bai qian was mare.I mean I didn’t feel the warmth of…
I actually felt it's quite realistic. Don't forget that these people are immortals and Bai Qian just recently met her son. Notice how Bai Feng Jiu could roam all over the three realms despite being technically a teenager, Bai Qian's family didn't even noticed anything was amiss at first.

Not that Bai Qian didn't love her son, but she knows that they could have thousands of years to get to know each other. Plus she's a laid back queen who is capable of extreme patience as per what she did for her teacher, so I believe she's just confident about her relationship with her son.

The entertainment news/gossip accounts at weibo are setting up that it's gonna be a competition between 2Ha and SaYe, battle of the BLs ... This should be interesting since both books and author have their respective fanbases.
