Why would the little boy hold a grudge against the king. The king did him a favor getting his evil, lying narcissistic "mother" out of his and his father 's lives . As for the queen yes she did love the king that's true but I don't feel bad for her she knew from day one he loved someone else trying to force your way into someone's heart will do nothing but make them hate you

How fast love can turn to hate in the presence of jealousy.if they had talked to each other from the beginning about how they were feeling at the time 90% of the death and heartache probably wouldn't have happened .I believe Hong Rim did love the king in the end he just said he didn't to hurt him in the moment. Once he saw the queen was alive he realized he'd killed the man he loved not the monster he thought he'd become . Plus I think the late scene of the memory of the painting was suppose to show how Hong Rim loved king from the start I guess
