I don't know why many have SML syndrome, but I really understand the ML (Ai Ran) attitude towards the FL, because she is the not the FL in the novel and also he already had crush on Chu Chu and their feelings are mutual . So definitely he can't act lovey- dovely with FL at start because if he does that implies he is two timing which flaws the ML character, but when he realized his feelings towards ZXE, he loved her whole heartedly. Where as with the SML, I feel he is more like a bestie with the FL than a lover.
