It's a perfect slice of life
It contained so many important life lessons! It's an amazing slice of life full of heartwarming moments in which you cry and laugh so much. Every character has so much depth and you learn so much from this drama. The romance not only of the main couple but of all the side couples was super cute! The only downside is that the setting changes in an office romance for the second half where ironically there isn't much romance going on. The second couple shines more during those episodes. However the ending is perfect and all stories are eventually given the closures they deserve.
The female lead really knows how to act, in all the dramas I watched of her. The actor playing the brother also has amazing acting skills. The bonding between the siblings is one of the best ì have ever watched.

A very unique love story where romance is not the focus
The last episodes break all the misconception the viewers and even the people inside the drama have about her being a weak candy girl to the male lead. You have to be older to actually understand the push and pull of this drama and why the female lead take certain life decisions. Perhaps because of the language barrier, it wasn't always clear why he takes certain decisions regarding their relationship. The dialogues are actually hilarious and the ML's cynicism is top notch. I love all the side chracters too and I only have the warmest memories no matter how many times I finish this drama. There were many nice life lessons too and the ML also realises how he could have handled things differently and spoken differently, unlike many arrogant rich man poor woman dramas. It will always be one of those dramas that are home to me and I must admire the clever brain who wrote the climax and all the really nice subplots that intertwin to nicely with the journey of the main leads. I still always cry during some of their adventures together and this drama has a very special place in my heart.
The ending was perfect, with a closure and new beginning for everyone.

You either love it or you hate it
I just love this writer so much that what can I even say...I mean it's the writer of My Mister we are talking about. The direction was also mind blowing. Some scenes are just like a dream, and here is the irony, an innuendo you will figure out only once you watch the drama. I still listen to the soundtrack and it still brings me back to all the messy, complex and nostalgic feelings of when I first watched it. The love stories were all so tangible and understandable that you can't but feel closer and closer to her emotions. This drama is not aiming for perfection, hell no. Every character is so imperfect and somehow at some point it feels complete, it feels like you were in the story all this while and you start feeling empathy for each of the characters. The acting of the whole cast was superb and it was so funny! My favorite character is the eonni, she is so funny and talented that I can't imagine how much they must have been laughing or been in awe while shooting her scenes! You will find yourself laughing in scenes you thought were the saddest. It was Korean comedy 10/10. During some cuts it was difficult to keep watching in public for the fear that some weird reaction came out, especially during the kiss scenes, but oh let me tell you, the first kiss, that was the best onscreen kiss of Korean television ever. No overestimation here.
I found the story-line to be extremely unique and all the characters were three-dimensional. Many of the things will make you extremely angry and they should: that's exactly the portrayal of the beauty standard in Korean societies. If you think it's unfair, well done, you got the point.

It portrays realistic relationships and real struggles of people in their 20s
I loved the chemistry so much! It was really fun to watch and most importantly for once, it was not about the rich guy and the poor girl.Maybe I loved this drama for bigger reasons: it's raw, so close to the reality of the youth nowadays, not of the girl who in the end marries the chaebol of of the boy who falls for the pure and saintly girl. The story of the second couple was very well written too. They were giving the depth and the glimpse of real long term relationships while the main lead were really comfortable with each other and you could tell even in the bts (he actually seems to have a crush on the female lead, but really, who wouldn't). I really love the actress who plays the anchor as well, despite her being the evil one here lol.
Some people were complaining about certain reactions of Ae Ra to some of Dong Man's decisions. I really think those people have never put themselves in her shoes or thought from the perspective of a woman who's man is a MMA fighter. And the complains about how dramatic some revelations should have been...I mean...it's a rom com? Is it supposed to have melodrama elements in it? We see some backstories with enough depth, literally just enough. There is no dragging in any of the episodes.
Finally, the young cast was fantastic and those kids act so well that it's incredibly heart warming !

Hilarious rom-com - a parody of its genre and everything the original webtoon failed to be
I wonder what people were thinking when they started the drama to comment later that this was predictable. Like literally what were you thinking this was? Misaeng? Stranger? Voice? Why would you even start a high school drama with the 18 years old "ugly" girl with makeup and 2 hot boys in love with her to begin with expecting the twists of say..Penthouse ? If you have watched enough k-dramas you would know that this drama was literally parody of many typical k-drama plots and has cliche plastered in it's poster. It was made to be laughed about and it was almost a satire of its own genre. It can be many things including predictable, but boring? oh no, that it isn't.
I didn't like the webtoon but I am here because of my girl Moon Ga Young because I love her acting! The direction was also really good and it was hilarious! They have diverted from the webtoon as much as possible so I was happy with the plot.
The sad parts seemed to be well potrayed possibly also because of MGY's great acting. I gotta say that the cast is seriously full of good looking people, including the friends, the parents, the siblings and so on. But they are also really cute. I liked all the side characters. I am a big fan of the actress who plays the older sister and the character she is portraying. I am hoping that unlike the webtoon, this will show positive values about beauty and character development.
The reason I like the main couple is that the director never failed to show they were even for a second. No misleading scenes despite sweet/sad/cute scenes with the second lead. Her feelings were clear, not like in Start Up where the FL kept staring/following around/was in love with HJP for 15 years and 9 episodes and the whole audience was extremely confused and some were so even until the penultimate episode.
The male lead here has a messed up childhood and adolescence, with his orphan life, bad father and death of the closest friend and loss of all friendships. Human interaction is not something he has had much. The main female lead had a pretty sad growing up too until recently with so much bullying and even her own mom making her feel worthless. Then one day he finds this one and only person who can make him smile and she finds this one and only person who can make her feel loved and beautiful for who she is. They are so emotionally intimate with each other even before the kiss that it was just right: the right amount of vulnerability, the right amount of awkwardness, the right amount of friendship and understanding. They are teens and they are perfectly fine both as themselves and as a couple.
It litterally gave us a sensible breakup for such a young couple with actual COMMUNICATION and the most realistic way in which people go back together (and COMMUNICATE about what went wrong before) and how some move on with life but their heart never does.
Their going back reminded me of some meetings in my own life that I should never have had and the meeting of Reply 1997 of the main leads after 6 years. I will never forget those iconic words in his thoughts when he saw her again:
"Because of you I avoided reunions and visit your parents the day before you would come. On holidays, I lie about having enteritis or eye infection. I've made all stupid excuses for past six years. But you're made all my efforts go powerless at once. Si-won Sung, you bitch. Everything went back to the first day of our high school back in 1996, to the day of out first kiss in 1997, to the day when I was crying like a madman in 1998. Everything went back to that winter. To be more accurate Yoon Jae Yoon from the 90s has just come back." This pretty much what happens if you just move on with your life but keep your heart parked at one single crossroad forever.
I love the drama much more than only the love line. I love the second lead and his whole family. I love all JK's siblings. I love all the side love stories, the friendships and the funny scenes which are actually funny and the acting of the cast and what else can I even say. I didn't even want to start this because the lost plot of the webtoon and the lack of any type of character development were not my cup of tea but I did, for MGY and I don't regret it one bit

How is this so well written?
It's from a rookie writer so the that that each character has such depth is so interesting. Why does it feel like nothing is happening when everything is happening at a subtle speed, at the right tempo, giving a strange flow you get pulled into? The dialogues go from funny to deep easily. The acting of the cast is great. I never enjoyed any other previous drama of the lead actress but I still gave this a go because I have always admired the acting of the main male leads. I was pleasantly surprised seeing how much she has improved. The highlight of the show is how uniquely the four leads have been written. The strongest female lead might not be so strong and the weak in status one is not is one hell of a strong woman but if you notice all the women of this drama are strong independent, cool women. So that sure is refreshing.
One male lead is extremely unique, like a kid in an adult's body. A good and kind one. Very kind one. Another one seems like a kid but has the soul of a man, making him a paradox.
I am enjoying the human relationships portrayed in this drama and the friendship is so well written, not just between the male characters but between the female characters and the male characters and between all of them. The complexity of humane relationships is in full bloom here. Very raw, very real.
This drama has a strange power of making you happy after you have watched it when nothing exceptional is happening. This is its beauty.
