I will never understand why it sometimes takes years for China to release their dramas like whatch u waitin for ? Huh ? The actor to get into a scandal ? So u will get another reason for it to keep it in ur basement hidden forever. Imagine the amount of hard work the actors would have put and then they have to end up waiting years to see their work, sheesh.
Ming Yi is not actually the biological daughter of the Yaoguang Mountain king. The queen of Yaoguang Mountain gave came from a clan where many many powerful warriors with powerful spiritual veins are born. The queen gave birth to a son, with no spiritual vein, this would put her position in jeopardy. So, she abandoned her son and sent him away, and then adopted a newborn girl with powerful spiritual veins from her maiden clan.
This girl was Ming Yi. As for the son who was sent away, it was Ji Bozai, Ji is the queen's surname btw. The queen thought Ming Yi was a unknown baby, but it was actually her trusted guard's daughter. She sent Ji Bozai with him. In Yaoguang Mountain, Ming Yi was nurtured as warrior, but in the process, she lost her childhood, it won't be wrong tosay she was abused and tortured. But the queen couldn't trust Ming Yi fully, so she poisoned her from childhood slowly. Though Ming Yi knew nothing about her birth. Seeing his daughter being tortured and poisoned, the trusted guard of the queen instructed the Slave market owner to punish Ji Bozai the same way, Ji Bozai was placed in a slave market by him. It was his twisted satisfaction. While the queen was torturing Ming Yi, his daughter, he tortured Ji Bozai, the queen's son. But after a few years, Ji Bozai also awakened a powerful spiritual vein ironically. Ming Yi and Ji Bozai was distant clan members though, where no trace of blood relation existed. This was the whole story. In the novel, Ming Yi's poison acted before the tournament so she didn't fight Ji Bozai, but a person gave her news that Ji Bozai had the antidote + told her all the truth about Ji Bozai and Ming Yi's tangled past. So, when Ming Yi went to Ji Bozai, she always felt guilty deep down and lowered herself to a dancer just to repay him somehow and reveal the truth to him.
From reddit btw, they changed a lot of things from the novel. Ji Bozai was an actual womanizer, not just pretending. He had his way with many women and then threw them away once he got bored, that's why Ming Yi could enter his home so easily. They also got intimate in the first night and continued to be intimate physically, not like the drama, where both tried to stop intimacy.
The world in the story looks down at women a lot, Ji Bo Zai was kind of looked down on women originally. Golden Millet Dream was not a big deal as far as I remember. Companion beasts also couldn't transform into a human form. 27 or Er Shi Qi and Bu Xiu - both were human subordinates of Ming Yi and Ji Bozai respectively. 27 hid in Wugui Sea and he was not a silly child like in the drama, he was a serious and quiet young man who only listened to Ming Yi. Yan Xiao was not an enemy like the drama. They were considered friends, but later in the novel, Yan Xiao was revealed to be a spy and Ji Bozai knew from the start. But he didn't harm Ji Bozai so Ji Bozai didn't expose him either. Ji Bozai and Ming Yi held their wedding at the very last in the drama.
Also, Ming Yi never fought Ji Bozai in the novel as her poison activated before the tournament and she didn't attend and fled to save her life. So she knew that Ji Bozai didn't poison her.
She went to him for antidote as well as another major reason. Lastly, Ji Bozai was a true jerk in the novel. When their manipulations stopped, they loved each other and basically, everything was cleared up, Ji Bozai actually married another woman without Ming Yi knowing for political reasons, Ming Yi came to know after a whole year. Mind you, they were together back then honestly. Also, one time, Ming Yi also caught Ji Bozai with a maid- doing Idk what, but definitely not something proper yk. What do you guys think ?
