ya, i dont get it either. but i think it is because he met yiren when he was about to jump in the river,and commit suicide. but when he heard someone crying, he went to find her. so in a way she also saved his life. so maybe he is thankful for that

I think it is her and ik that she didn't graduate from the same elementary school. I think the reason is maybe she came to the school as a guest or maybe she was one of the teachers daughter and her mom must have brought her to the school for some reason. also u notice that whenever we saw her, she wasn't wearing the school uniform but a white dress.
