This is a drama like this which dead people come back to living. The King's star is the main protagonist of the story. Why his character shouldn't be back? There's every reason to be back.

It's Naksu's soul in Mudeok's body for the whole season 1, so they're basically the same person. The main concept of this drama is soul-shifting into different bodies. That's why the actress has been changed. They don't need to be similar.
It's nothing to do with the actresses, it's all parts of the script. They planned it on purpose since the beginning.

Does this plot involve more than love triangle? Not fond of love triangle though.

Others with little fantasy elements include Goblin, Korean Odyssey, Hotel Del Luna, My Love from the star, etc...
