The energy and chemistry is in the original story (manhwa) and it wasn't plain at all, but they they tried to…
Unfortunately I haven't read the manhwa so I can't and I won't say anything about the original story. The point is that a drama should work and stand "alone", and be able to transmit certain emotions/vibes by itself, and not by the "memory" of a manhwa.
I found CBAW to be cute, light, bloomy... I liked how the actors portrayed both of their roles, too, even tho' I didn't get any love-sparkles between them. But it didn't get me invested in the story nor in the relationship between the leads.
You're probably right in saying that they tried to squeeze too much in too little screen time.
I think watching this after Semantic Error ruined it for me... I was so hyped for having a great korean BL that I was expecting much more from this one, too. All in all, CBAW was actually pretty cute, but a bit too plain - it lacked the energy and chemistry that SE had. The actors were pretty good in both roles, tho'!
When you think nothing can get sillier and messier than what we've had up to now, here we go with episode 7! XD I basically laughed during the whole episode because it was SO absurd! Even the bed scene was executed poorly...
I keep repeating myself two things: 1. this drama could have been so much better AND 2. I must watch till the end to see how much worse it can get XD
I'm sorry but how can that be "lowkey racist"? I speak German, English and Italian at the same degree and I also studied Japanese - I started studied Mandarin and Korean too when I was getting my degree but unfortunately I never "clicked" with those languages. I didn't say: "I don't like Taiwanese people", which in fact isn't so - I just said "I don't like the sound of the language" which, in whatever way you read it, is a totally different thing and it's just about phonetics, not about racism.
Yep, when it aired back in the days XD I only watched three Taiwanese dramas (non-BL) in my life, and these were: Meteor Garden, Mars and Corner with Love. Unfortunately I don't like the sound of the language so I can't stick to Taiwanese dramas T_T
I still have to watch the last episode, but I don't think I'll change my mind so much with it, therefore... I've seen all HanaDan adaptations from the manga to the anime to all the dramas, and I must say this version has the best cast: every character nailed the role. I was particolarly impressed with Gorya, she maybe screamed a bit too much but she felt more "human" and less "clichè" then the other versions of her character.
I loved Makino and Tsukasa from the japanese version and MatsuJun will forever be "THE" main male lead for me... Bright was more real and tridimensional in his acting, but I think he somehow lacked that "beasty" vibe that MatsuJun delivered with even a single look.
This Thai version was great in music, filming, acting, but the thing I loved the most was how relatable the friendship of F4 was: it felt real, layered, supportive, fun, deep... I would be a happy person having friends like them!
And finally: Ren had so much more chemistry with the female lead then Thyme, I honestly rooted for him from start to finish. it was the first time it happened while watching all the HanaDan versions... and kudos to Dew because I really loved his way of portraying Ren/Rui, he started well but then got even better to the finish line.
HanaDan will forever be my favourite, but this version managed to use a trite/clichèed/overheard story and plot and make it fun, despite us knowing exactly how it would end.
Aaaaah, great, we got another list of clichèes thrown in the plot in ep6: 1. the bitchy adoptive mother 2. the super hateable half-brother 3. "you will pay for what you've done" 4. the girlfriend 5. jealousy in the form of "what's your relationship to him" 6. "when will you get married?"
I'm not listing the father because we've seen already how shitty he is... and I'm probably missing some more. XD
Still, I can bear 20mins a week of nonsensical plot for the sake of Chap&Green. ...but I really really hope they get a better project next time... both are good actors and their ship works well, it's a pity this drama is so farfetched.
I feel like the remembering part is about there life before they died? Since Tua couldn't agree with Prakan when…
probably he is an exception because they shared something when they both were in the hospital when he was a kid - a transfusion? a transplant (...heart? maybe the beating is not just because of love? XD)? or maybe it's not that complicated and it's just because of some empathy they shared, the seed of a future love (what is blooming now).
i do agree the SR role is a bit confusing, I love the idea and the contest but I would love to understand more about them...
Both actors can act - check their other works... not their fault that director or someone ask them to act in this…
I think Sichol is meant to be the "comic relief" of the drama, his overacting is filling those gaps in which they can't put accidental kisses or shirtless hotties... XD It's as if we have a plot which is a flat line, and need some spikes: the spikes are either "flirt" or "nonsense". XD
Honestly I found him to be funny in some scenes, or at least his "nonsense" was a better filler then seeing those terrible flashbacks Nawee had on his childhood, so bad realized and overexaggerated... >_>
Interesting story but the direction, sound and cut are so rough... I love the Soul Reapers' job/guild idea tho', looks intriguing... and Tua's smiling eyes are so cute! Fingers crossed we get less hospital and more soul reaping in the next episodes...! XD
It's a pity this show is so rushed (the whole "childhood bullying drama" part felt so "too much"...) and so filled with clichès, because the two leads have great vibes together (the size measurement at the pool with Nawee in dark clothes was so entertaining!) and the tailor theme is very interesting, at least it's a new scenario.
So far I'm loving it: easy, funny, with great guys dressed in great clothes. Nothing more than that, and it's ok as long as we keep on having those hot flirts. XD
Such a cute little treasure, I really hope korean BL industry can go towards this direction! It was very simple yet entertaining: easy story, fun moments, great chemistry, likeable side characters (yeah I fell in love with Yoo Na, she was so cool!), catchy OST, nice kisses and believable dynamics between the two male leads.
Honorable mention to Park Seo Ham, he was so damn cool that he kept me glued to the screen!!
I hated episode 1 when I started the series, but watching episode 12 made me rethink it again and evaluate it as part of the whole story and growth of the characters. This drama deserves much more than most BLs out there: the plot is simple but feels so real and relatable, great atmospheres and sceneries, nice cast (my only issues were with Fah ^^') talented and goodlooking... and the thing I loved most: it's probably the first thai BL in which I see people COMMUNICATE. I felt it was almost miracolous! XD
Now, THIS would be the occasion for a timejump: please jump to the future and give us a DomeVee sequel! <3
