But they could've done that regardless just to cover the tracks of the incident...

Anyways I don't want to go too deep into this...

By the likes of it ... It would be the guy he was competing with who drove the car as I guess that was the clause of the challenge

or
2. When he had the stroke, his friend rushed him to the hospital and that's when the accident happened... But I'm doubting it's that as he was bought to the hospital in an ambulance if I'm not wrong
