I agree with some of your views but saying that it was terrible screenwriting…I don’t think so.
It is just that Gu Man follows her novels to the T, except for some changes rarely. So, the current episodes are how it is written in the novel.
Also, Gu Man had said that she wanted the main premise of the novel to be aerospace industry of China so it could be the reason why she didn’t write about showbiz (considering that QJJ would have to continue with her activities in the meantime).
Just saying…ahem…but all these reasons still does not mean that she should not have written aboout QJJ in these chapters.

Anyone who feels that the gaming parts were meaningless should watch FIYS first while anyone who feels that they were unrealistic or useless should watch LS.
No hate for these shows and I personally loved these but there were some comments criticising the gaming scenes so I thought they should at least think before they speak.

Also, this drama is just using the game as a means to make two long lost acquaintances (I won’t say friends) meet again. And tbh, it is actually so much realistic concept in this modern era.
Also, I think gaming scenes might be a bit boring for some. Maybe you can skip them (because you don’t miss anything) and as someone who has read the novel I think gaming scenes will be greatly reduced(almost nil✌️) in the latter half of the drama.
