Wth why do Chinese men in dramas always act like women can't do shit on their own, not even tie their own shoes?…
I think it is some kind of cultural difference. The earlier chinese modern dramas was full with things like this, but nowadays it is ok. Of course, in this drama there are still some annoying part ( like FL tracking with her phone) but it far less than earlier. And as kat797 wrote: the ML thought about the FL like they was 10 years before, but it is changing through the series.

I have watched so many c-dramas now, but in this one they say "I love you" so many times instead of "I like you".…
As mine chinese teacher explained it: It is normal to say somebody who you like/love "I like you" (我喜欢你) in china. This is kinda equivalent of the english "I love you" . But when the couple live together for long time, married, have kids, etc they start to use "I love you" (我爱你) in chinese. It is deeper and stronger phrase.
