I see, and from your perspective I agree with you. Sorry I didnt take only the series into considerarion. imo the man has a plan, so he really does not deepen his relationships and wears a mask, maybe many. In the scene with Tawan and the mirror, what he says is for me pretty close to how he really feels. Somebody has pointed this out before, he uses half lies/half truths when deceiving people.
My views do include a lot from the novel. I love it to pieces, and the series is elevating it. Also thanks for the discussion, it is always good to read different views on the characters, especially my fav Vegas.

I dont think Vegas has no interest in ppl, I think the opposite. He has too much, especially when it comes to his family, he feels and suffers for everything. The series may change this but this is the root. He loves Macau and his father, but the love for the latter becomes conflict, everything he wants is to be recognized and loved by him. His love for Macau is what attracted me to him, how such a bitch could love his brother so much? Actually not being such a bitch deep down... Vegas is a work of art.
Imo he falls for Pete bc P genuinely cares about him and accepts him for the puzzling mess he is. And in the series bc P is fierce, like the true oponnent he never imagined existed.
