I have been discussing this with other jdramas fans and the key is no matter what writer does SML is a great guy even if they show him bullying elders all of the sudden it wont work. My guess either all three walk away single with possible open ending? Another even more bleak ending is terminal death which is possible we are talking jdramas here. Last SML leaves completely either in location or in heart of FL and if her guilt can take it will see............ Remember without SML helping them have courage in High School the couple might of never happen? people/viewers forget this part but writers dont from Japan

Sou left for 5 years and made his choice. SML is not horrible its timing thing the fanbase wants them to get back together for sure but if you watch Jdramas happy endings forget it
