i think the difference about young yishui and ranran is that young yishui despite being villainous while fragile was that he's still a great fighter with five spiritual roots while ranran was weak but keep looking for danger for a long time. Even the ML was unclear that her acts are due to love or just righteousness hahahah. I also thought that way at first, like she cares for him a lot but as a teacher. The romance gets pretty clear after she was reborn tho. He's a doting, protecting, handsome, and skillful person in her eyes (and biased towards her lol) it's understandable that she falls for him as his student. But it'd be revealed later that her past self once wanted to confess her love to him. I found it believable.

for me personally, memories define a person, and drama sells a romance between SYS and MQG. so if XRR never gained memories of her past, then they're two different FLs, hence ML loves two FLs, so the romance of the two leads is never monogamous (?) and it really bugs me. Hahaha idk how to explain, i always hate the kind of happy ending with amnesia lead..
