I honestly applaud the way they have tried to portray realistically issues faced by a chunk members of the LGBTQ+ community and how it affects a lots of aspects of their lives (themselves , parents , profession ,etc.. ) just because society views it as something different . It helps people understand that love is love , who are we to judge or define which gender one should love... live and let live , why is that so hard ?

Honestly , Gene's mom is such an understanding person ....
Not just about her son , but her husband as well

Well so it seems like a lot of this could have been avoided if they just communicated more .
ZSY could have told GSD if he was going to come out to his father about them .
GSD should have trusted that ZSY would stand by him or at least talked to ZSY directly asking what he wants , third party involvements rarely end well.
I do on some level understand that GSD wanted to be good enough , wanted to be able to gain the approval of ZSY's dad , on his own so his boyfriend doesn't have to worry about anything in the future. But that's what a relationship is , you work through the tough parts together , not by one thinking the burden to create "the perfect environment or setting " to be able to date without any hiccups , or prove their relationship to the world is their responsibility alone.
Hope to see their relationship mature more ....
