Han Hyo Joo and Kim Soo Hyun both rejected the role. Also the director has also change probably the reason why he declined, but take my words with a grain of a salt.

The story could not be considered masterpiece, but the dialogues and interactions with each other makes it interesting. I guess good acting really paved the way.

How come i didn't come across this actor? He is great lol. I have only liked hallyu actors such as kim soo hyu, park seo joon, lee joon gi, and hyun bin , but don't get me wrong I watch underrated dramas. It is a gem to actually see not a hallyu actor to perform well in terms of acting. Run on is definitely > Start Up.

That is the most amazing thing about him, he is a "hallyu" actor so people expect him to take on characters that would totally shine, but he didn't. He choose dramas according to the scripts, not something that would make him famous. He once said he wants to be remembered as an actor, not some popular celebrity because of his visual.

Although I might not disagree with your other points because it is your own opinion, but you say Oh Jung Se's performance was the only thing that saved this drama? Did you forget Ko Moon Yeong's brilliant crying and Kim Soo Hyun's excellent portrayal of a restrained character and take note he won a daesang for his acting ability. Oh Jung Se is indeed the highlight since it is literally within the title. It is okay to not be okay.

The second female lead is the only annoying character I hate here lool.

Thanks for this meaningful discussion. Well for me I considered many stories masterpiece. I do believe alice in borderland is a masterpiece because its plot is something unique and it makes you curious every episode. It was like flower of evil if you haven't watched it yet. I guess everybody has their own preference.

I do agree on boys over flower, but iotnbo is on different level on bof in terms of recognition. Boys Over Flower was famous for its leads, but not iotnbo. IOTNBO was famous because of its happy ending, character driven and fairy tale like story. For viewers who were touched like me, it will remain a masterpiece. Thank you for taking a look at this drama though it did not satisfy your rational view.

Hmm it's okay if it didn't stand out to you. There is a reason why series become popular. It is either a lot of people appreciate the series or people hate the series. In light of this, people can actually disagree that it is a top drama since we have our own preferences, The plot is actually good considering the drama received recognition in new york times and it is currently the most watched (points) netflix kdrama series. At least this story, focused on character development unlike other series.

It's okay. It is not your cup of tea. Drama is really subjective so one cannot force to watch a drama that is not their taste. One man's trash is another man's treasure
