I've noticed that the negative reviews on the the review section are being blasted. There is people implying that the negative reviews are either:
1. Not to be trusted. 2. Bias because of a ship
Number 2 is simply not true. And number 1 doesn't make sense. You can't say a particular review is misleading or dishonest if reviews are by definition subjective.
So I created a set of questions to help you decide whether or not to watch Start Up
1. Do you like Nam Joo Hyuk?
If yes, you will like this, because he features a lot in the show.
2. Do you like Suzy?
If yes, you will like this, because she features a lot in the show.
3. Do you like strong independent women?
If yes, you will only like Kang Hanna scenes.
4. Do you enjoy love triangles?
If yes, perfect, because this show makes the love triangle the focus of the show.
5. Do you like Kim Seon Ho?
If yes, then this show launched him to overnight Hallyu status.
6. Do you enjoy learning about business and tech related things?
If yes, this show probably does not have too much information about this compared to others.
7. Do you enjoy family dramas?
If yes, then this show is not the best at portraying healthy family relationships.
8. Do you enjoy HS dramas?
If yes, perfect, there is a lot of immaturity and teenage angst to fill your need for HS drama.
NOW, if you've decided to watch the show. Here are some information for you to know.
1. If after 2 episodes, you are loving NDS character, then that is great, You will enjoy the show.
2. If after 4 episodes, you are not liking NDS character, then that is bad, as it doesn't get better from here.
3. If after 6 episodes, you feel you are falling for HJP's character. Come back to this comment section for some support.
4. If after 8 episodes, you feel your heart dropping, and you feel lost with the direction of the show, then know you are not alone.
5. If after Ep. 10 you really dislike NDS character, then you can consider dropping the show after the end of ep. 12.
6. If you finished it and loved the show, that is great, leave a comment, or write a review. But by no means should you attack, ridicule or shame other commenters who did not like it.

The big hand won. The hand that broke the name plate. The hand that punched his mentor.
The big hand won over the hand that gave her comfort through letters. Protecting her head. Taking care of the plant. Holding her shoes. Stirring her noodles.
People may have different opinion and some may say this is a good drama, but when it gets so many critics (much more than compliments), there must be something wrong with this drama and the writer should be open to the critics and improve more for the next project.
The conversation between HJP and NDS when discussing investment matters felt as if HJP was a villain who apologized to a hero to give it a chance.
The issue isn’t the fan ship war that has erupted lately.
It’s that This has become the most important question for viewers to judge whether they come out of the drama slightly satisfied or not: “who the female lead is going to choose as her beau?”
•The second female lead has been reduced to a poor cameo role; who despite being sister, daughter & granddaughter doesn’t even get told in 3 whole years that her Grandma is losing eyesight.
•The female lead turns from an independent, almost self-raised woman with a bold personality to a damsel in distress who cannot function without help from the men in her life.
•The Start Up title is a bait. We start off with a group of inexperienced + Zero business knowhow but passionate people who hope to become the next Steve Jobs or Google. Whilst the first half of the drama gives you hope that this team will slowly learn how to become entrepreneurs and encounter common start-up problems.... We end up with a bunch of (very) immature people who rely heavily on plain luck to secure investments, recognition & success and then proceed to Sell off their company in ONE day without any forethought about their goals. The drama then proceeds with a misplaced time skip to gift this team success & wealth from jobs at other companies.
•One of the worst time skips ever. Not just because the actual scene transition was terrible. First due to when it takes place, it robs the characters of the opportunity to reflect and learn from their mistakes. Second, zero character development in 3 years skip. Everyone seems to have frozen in time. (stagnation) Third, all the previously struggling characters have found (lucky) career success & wealth and we miss their journey through it.
•The show seems to Romanticise/gloss over undue violence and immaturity Especially in a workplace/professional area. (Guys if you punch your mentor At work or school because he made your girlfriend cry after your Own friend told Him to tell Her the “harsh truth, no feelings involved”..... You will be kicked off campus/site and not allowed back in. There may also be lawsuits on assault.) The main characters consistently & unrepentantly make business decisions based on personal emotions- love life, jealousy, euphoria, entitlement. I cannot stress enough the lack of maturity a bunch of 25+ somethings show in their Place of Work- that even teenagers in contrast can seem more wise.
•The male lead has been reduced to a whining entitled toddler who, like a broken radio in order to gain sympathy points from everyone around him, keeps crying & repeating he “has nothing” just because his love life isn’t sailing smooth. THIS, despite the fact that he has 2 very loyal friends, supportive parents (regardless of their expectations of him they still invested into his loss-making, no-real-plan, debt-run business for 3 whole years prior to the show start), a close cousin who’s more like a brother that does marketing for him for basically free, genius coding talent, handsome & tall looks, a warm family house (not an apartment!) to return to.... and after a time skip, even becomes successful & wicked rich..... Like dude, what the hell more do you want ?!? And what’s more ridiculous is that he’s the most well-off character in the show. One of his own friends has lost a brother to suicide. The girls have a dead parent + blind grandma + enemy like stepfamily. The other guy is a literal friendless orphan whose success is all self-made......
It’s a wonder we’re still watching this drama. The effort of the actors, the pretty cinematography, the enticing OST. There’s not much else bringing us back except needing to know the conclusion of a drama we already invested our time & energy in.

Ignore my profile pic with hjp, and pretend hjp was never interested in dalmi. Here are the reasons why people are saying that dosan is a character that doesn't have character growth, and that he gradually becomes problematic or at the very least dislikable through the drama: - destroys the nameplate: never says he's sorry about the mess he created afterwards, drama and dalmi never address this as wrong - makes a deal with alex without disclosing what alex said about wanting only him, signs the contract in one day, but then blames yongsan for stopping hjp from calling them - punches hjp after his friends asks him to be honest and put his feelings aside, right after asks for his help: never says sorry, drama and dalmi never address this as wrong - stalks dalmi and listens in her conversations when she asked him to leave her alone for the time being: this is considered romantic, never addressed as wrong by the drama or reprimanded by dalmi - leaves drunk girl in the park alone: never addressed as wrong by the drama - uses information attained by stalking to comfort her, otherwise he wouldn't be able to help motivate her for demoday: considered romantic - says he only has dalmi, and nothing else, ignoring the fact that he has a supportive (financially) father a supportive emotionally mother, a supportive extended family, 2 best friends that support everything he does: never addressed as wrong - says "rich jerk" to an older man, with a higher position, that is not his real brother, and they're not close and they don't like e/o: remember this is South Korea and respect to ppl with a higher position and/or age is very important, however it's okay for dosan to say it without ever saying sorry afterwards - overhears again on purpose dalmi and injae conversation and uses this information to inspire/motivate her and proceed with the risky business: never addressed as wrong, but it's romantic instead - says sailing off without a map was marvellous and he never regrets it, while knowing that by doing so dalmi and saha lost theri jobs, when he and twosans went to silicon valley and became rich: dalmi and drama considers this romantic - doesn't want to give back the letters that were never his to begin with: never addressed as wrong by the drama - asks for the plant saying it was given to him, while in reality dalmi brought it to him only after meeting him once at the networking party, which means she still didn't know the "real" dosan, and the plant was still meant for the penpal-dosan aka jipyeong: never addressed by drama, on the contrary it looks like the drama supports dosan in his request and thinks that he's right
Only for this, the drama doesn't deserve more than a 7/7.5 rating IMO: what kind of morals does it teach its audience if the wrong actions are never seen as wrong but instead brushed off and some even celebrated
ep 2 => it should be forbidden by law to ruin the work of talented actors and actresses (everybody's good in this…
Wow, I don't know what kind of reference to your music to say like that. But it looks like you have to find a better music reference for your playlist from now on.
If you like romantic dramas, then this is not for you. If you like ships between ML and FML then this drama isn't for you. If you like love triangles, then this drama is not for you. If you are only biased actor / actress, then this drama is not for you.
I myself don't know which category this drama is in. But since the last half of episode 2, it made me don't want to skip all the lines in this drama. Still episode 3, there's still a long way to go, but enough to keep me going to watch it.
I really don't understand. When they were really clear that Dosan and Dalmi is the endgame from the beginning…
I really don't understand. You ask why many hate them but don't read them in the review section. Do all the commenters who are against you have to reply to your comments? Please take the time to read the opinions in the review section before asking questions like this.
