Well if your imagination can only peg me as a DDS or a Vice Ganda fan, then I don't also know how to respond to…
Seems like you're the one who can't sleep at night. Still brewing your own screenplay without fruition? We do have to encourage you to do better. It's a win-win for the whole booming industry of Philippine BL.
Instead of being salty at my review, why don't you post yours here and praised it to high heavens, seeing that…
Yep hater. Giving someone a score of 1/10 is HATRED. No brainer no need to deduced. You have a very different agenda from the get go. I wouldn't even give a 1.0 rating for the other series that I've watched . And I've watched alot not just BL series. Alot of them failed in comparison to GSP. And yet I would give them a more reasonable rating in-tuned with the general sentiments. If I stick with my own biases, it'll be an outlier just like your review.
I believe the rating is too harsh but I agree with some of your points. I never felt compelled to put all my attentions…
Subtleties deary.. This is not an action movie. You need to be voluntarily glued in every scenes to see the easter eggs and symbolism. You haven't understood why there's Anti-Marcos book on the coffee table? Then be a better critique in case you're not at all. You can also go back watching slapstick comedy instead.
The person is a hater, they never watched ”like in the movies”and the only show they have watched is ITSAY,…
Yes this is coming from hate indeed. Giving 1.0 score to someone who have put all his lifetime experience to create a masterpiece is very appalling. I wouldn't even give My Day or In Between such low ball score.
=> Have you not received the memo? This is the whole point of the title itself. How many romcoms have been created by members of the LGBTQIA+ only to be put in heteronormative appeal? Jadaone and Severo have their own podcast as of late and collaborated with On the wings of Love. I sensed homophobia here if you haven't had any other reviews. But you have ITSAY put on a shrine?
The producers are lucky because the two main leads carried this show to success, they are definitely great actors.
=> "Great actors?" If this had been put into a proper perspective I would agree. But you seemed to put them on a pedestal without knowing their backgrounds. They are indeed great actors, but it is not how you perceived them. Also in comparison with ITSAY actors? good luck with Teh's cries. I'm not mocking Teh here, but the technical aspect of that scene when all of his faced was drenched needs more convincing. Or atleast some sort of reason behind, which I need to dig deeper into.
I just wish they had better material.
=> You wish you could've pitched this one to globestudios yourself. Seems like you're confident in your writing skills compared to Juan Miguel Severo. Then publish your own screenplay in wattpad.
The music selection is also great!
=> seems not so great with your own spotify playlist.
The story itself was so thin, without any layers or nuanced, but the writer just try to place as many aphorism and didactic quotables to make the whole thing "profound" beyond its woke middle class drivel.
=> Seems like you need more of Shonda Rhime's Masterclass. Dunning-Kruger effect/Cognitive Bias at its best.
That's okay except that narrative-wise, nothing much is happening. And the script tried to hide that by telling and preaching the plot to the audience.
=> you just wished to have pitched the plot and created the screenplay yourself. SOGIE Equality Bill isn't about giving LGBTQIA+ special rights but equal rights. The mundane is what we're fighting for. To be not ashamed and scared if we do express our love seen in public. Nothing much is happening? You say? That would tell us you have no lens to see thru the mundane and what's wrong with the status quo. Furthermore, you are seeking for only the titillating like Teh's obsession with the coconut scent.
They could have done it in the podcast and nothing much changes. =>Banlaw Sessions say it all. To give a review of the series alone without these is not accurate. Oh and would you look at the number of views for each with 2-3 hours of videocast
Seeing that you don't know me, and have no idea what my brain can and cannot handle, I don't really know how to…
Full of bad arguments. An Outlier review fighting against what? So lame ! Empty praises in your correspondences. As you just darted the ratings at your whim. To say the least, you're just pushing so much as being an attention-seeker.
I can duel against you with only a few words (even just one) if you're going to have a rebuttal of any sort. You will utterly fail for even trying.
Thanks, Baddie for recognizing some of the legit points I raised in my review. In retrospect, a 2-rating might…
Your positive pointers doesn't reflect with the ratings itself. If you thoroughly breakdown your review i.e. grading each actor for their delivery and put an average. It doesn't correlate with the total ratings under "acting/cast". Applying this for the other categories esp. for Music and Film scoring you're getting way overboard. The music is one of the finest selection in Philippine cinema. Lyrics, themes, sentiments, timing all of them fitted so well with each scenes and transitions. If you didn't get the meaning behind perhaps lost in translation, then there would be a serious case of comprehension skills and lack thereof on your part.
And if you put your review with ITSAY's focusing with Teh and Oh with GSP, I would say you're too oblivious. If you're a Filipino, your understanding of ITSAY is questionable to say the least. Unless you're completely disconnected from Pinoy Pop Culture and subculture in comparison with Thai/Chinese culture. Your review need a complete overhaul. Otherwise, I suggest you present as a better story you can create yourself. So we can pit it against Juan Miguel's masterpiece. He didn't invent those tropes but he concocted a powerful elixir of truth from his experiences in life being part of the LGBTQIA+ community in the early 2000's. Also GSP is a collaboration from the actors and director not just screenplay itself. The story itself is in each of the casts and crews advocacy for Gender Equality.
With the re-watched value, just take a look at the overall youtube views and the rate of consumption reaching 1 million views in no time. If you as a Filipino can't even watch this more than twice compare to ITSAY, you're complete fraud . Unless you enjoy the English subtitle regardless of mis-transliteration.
