I see a lot of comments about everything nowadays, criticising things from a modern perspective. It bothers you, yes, and it's understandable, but it's not real for those times. If you look from those times' perspective, their actions were justifiable.
"Not wanting to see grown-ups acting like twelve year olds" is great, but because of the actors, we don't realize their age entirely. At the begining of the story, they were very young. In those times, girls all over the world were married early. Gil Chae couldn't have been old enough to be mature. She was also a noble lady, who cared only to find her chosen one. That's why she was behaving "like a twelve year old". She still wasn't old enough, nor did she have the proper environment to grow up.
Only with the war, she started growing up and started to mature.
Also, the comparison with "Gone with the wind". Yes, it's true, it's very similar, but it's also its own story. And so what if it's similar with that story? I find a lot more beautiful and more interesting than that story.
I cried a lot because of this drama. It's very emotional. It shows how hurtful can pride be. It also shows an inevitable suffering of innocents, that touched me a lot,

I don't think Ban Ji Eum is soft or dumb at all! It's strength from her part to be able to live for that long and not change or become a bad, or even an evil person, for all the suffering that she endured. Maybe the drama isn't as good as the webtoon, but I enjoyed it so far. I didn't want to watch it at all, because I read the webtoon and I like it very much. But I saw a few scenes and they weren't as bad as I had expected they would be. On the contrary, as I already said, I quite enjoy it and I like it.

How would you know how a person that has lived for centuries would behave? Have you lived for centuries?

About cliches... I think they can really happen in real life too. Yes, it is not a common occurence, but something cliche happened to me and I couldn't believe it. I thought something like that would only happen on the screen, not at all in real life. It wasn't something romantic, but since then, I can't take lightly cliche scenes.

Do we not have the liberty to choose what to watch? Maybe I like these "stupid, crappy story" much more than the other series, maybe I like both this series and the one that you want to force other people to watch. But that is my bussiness, not yours.
I dislike people that want to enforce their opinion on others just because thay want to do that, and when someone says something about that, they start to pick on and be rude to that person.

Can I read somewhere the novel in English?

I found Naksu's change very normal. It was like she would have been if nothing bad would have happened to her. In a world where she would have lived free with her family, Cho Yeong would have been exactly like that. They showed us how her normal life would have been. An innocent, naive , cute and bubbly girl. Even before, in part 1, Jang Uk says about Mudeok that she is an innocent person, despite being an assasin. And if you think about it, she never doubed Jin Mu's lies and even thought that he will have her back. So I think it was the right decision for her character.

Wow! What a journey! I think it was the best drama that I watched so far. I watched kdramas since 10 years ago and Alchemy of souls downgraded all my favorites until now. Alchemy of souls really is a perfect story for me. And the actors did their job well.
I saw a comment earlier saying that only fans of the actors liked this series. I didn't like this because of the actors, I really liked the story. The actors were like the cherry on top.
After this, I became a fan of Shin Seung Ho. I didn't like him that much him before. But this role was perfect for him!
I don't know what to say anymore, but I loved this series!
