To be unique in an otherwise mundane and monotonous world is something I have always been striving for...seeing these characters possess superpowers offer comfort and respite from it in a way...but I am not suffering from any delusions of grandeur and am quite content as I am... To want to imagine what might have been is not something I am apologetic about nor will I ever be, but of course, to each his own, it is great that you and those who you are acquainted with think along the same lines, but it's a vast world and not everyone can share the same thoughts! Life is like music, but if one doesn't have the courage to make up one's own notes the world would never have been able to witness the music composed by the "Three B's of classical music"! You seem like a realist, and that's a great trait to have...while I am both a realist and a dreamer, so I hope you aren't offended but be open to dreaming a tiny bit, it makes life a lot more colorful! ^^
