Sooo i found this comment which tells the ending in The Novel. And honestly after reading that ending, I think the death could have been better... COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH BETTER OPTION...
The ending in the comment says:- "Xiaobao finds him some months (possibly years) later still alive living on the coast. Li Lianhua is completely mad and partially crippled (due to affects of poison). He interacts with Xiabao but doesn't know who he is. Li Lianhua is even playing chess with a 'rich man....who we get hints at are Xiabao in Li Lianhua's mind. Remember, the poison is supposed to make him live in illusions and that is what happens in book. I really thought is so sad him losing his mind. Sure, he is alive, living freely by the sea....fishing, but he is unaware of his friends at all. I think death is better honestly. But if life if most important, than Li Lianhua does live on....his yangzouman must have protected his life in some way.....and his 'disciple' Xiaboao does visit him even though Li Lianhua doesn't realize who he is. Ugh.....so sad to me."

I have watched UNTAMED... I have watched Guardian I have watched Faraway wanderers I have watched The healer and the killer... And i have just finished MYSTERIOUS LOTUS CASEBOOK.... So I know the pain.... Chinese wuxia and bromances are top class for a reason.... Anyways if i find the book I'll send you the link...so We can atleast read the ending and be settled that li Xiang yi/ Lian hua is alive... And i liked your review....it's the same as I felt..
I seem to not find a pic where Wu xie was looking at liu sang when they were caught as immigrants ...in ep 15.....i really loved that pic...but i couldn't find it

Even in drama..... there's this voice of lan zhan calling "wei ying" before the drama ends. And glad to hear you like the drama... welcome to the MDZS family...this drama has been my home since 2019...it's a comfort place. ..it gives me the same thrill and love whenever i rewatch it. The story line is soo not straight, just like the characters 💀. The story line has many ups and downs, many deaths of our lovely characters so it feels real to watch it. And not just some unreal too sweet fairytale plot/love story. In short i love this dra a lot and I'm glad if you like it too...it's really my home

Though in the drama it has shown an open ending...to our own imagination if they meet together or not....but in the novel they never part ways...stay together forever
This is so REALISTIC series. It was actually a story with many elements. It was not at all lovey-dovey, all enthusiasm, happy characters,nope. It had all the seriousness when it comes to working in industry though it be a literature industry. There were so many factors and sides were shown of Industry ; good and bad. So many sides of people were shown. So many sides of self was shown. The acting was all fine n good, not at all overly done. There were many characters and all did there roles profoundly, whether it be a small role or bad role. It had happy and sweet scenes which does not seemed forced. All in place.so good it was. So real it was . Well portrayed. I loved all the characters. Ahhhh this was so good. A new try and good try of Korean BLS.
