While ji ling is a puppet created by chi wen substitute, you can think of FL as creation of Jiu who has no idea she isnt a fox and rhis process of stone she will eventually become aware of this and rebel, leading to trying to save ji ling/chiwen.
Also FL memories are stolen from another girl that her sister organised, when sister fox realised NUWA was fake( jiu) that is when she rebelled by getting her memories stored in the shell chi wen gave her.
so this may lead to question of whose memories are they when they have been transplanted into the FL, the gurls or hers....
Still alot of story to happen but todays episode are going to be so emotional as the sister fox is desperate for WSG not to realise she did the masacre back then under jiu control.

It all makes sense with the further plot twists... multiple! And it is very well done that it is unexpected and engaging 2nd half. Nothing what we assume or believe to be facts are set instone.. a whodunnnit with flair
Yes.. so many unexpectedly interesting plot twists. Even up to 23, there are suprise story twists and it only has 1 ep left! I think honestly has alot of bl and gl vibes.
Watch this for the unexpected... intense, somewhat very unhinged connections between characters. Honestly enemies to lovers is easy to see in this series... alot.of difference relationship blur the lines.. the 2 main characters def feel very strongly for each other... which is ever twisting and changing as the story unfolds..
. having seen the actor in dashing youth and blood of youth, Wanyan Liu Rong delivers another complex character and to be opposite him on screen requires nuances that Liu Haoqun delivers refreshingly well.
The awkwardness leans into the complex relationship betwen the pair and there are no doubts on how deep that bond goes. Trigger warnings apply for domestic voilences and illicit, unsavory, torture on female characters done by secondary characters... having just watch ep 18 , im curious what is remaining to show... im preparing myself...
