I feel like they always want to go on with rookies, just look at the rest of the cast. Jung So Min only helped them out after the former rookie actress left. It's so sweet of So Min. Jung So Min is an established actress with tons of schedules. So it is possible she only make it time for part 1.
For other casts, e.g, Lee Jae Wook rejected other dramas for it and signed on for the whole drama (1+2).

Great job to you👏👏 AoS is only drama I am currently watching. I love its amazing concepts, unique storylines and incredible acting. Once again I falls for Lee Jae Wook, first time I did in Extraordinary You. Our leads have very good chemistry even with 9-year age gap in real life.
