Well, this show is under administrative guidance in Korean from episode 4. I think gay things are still illegal in Korea. And writer ahs dropped clear hints about so yong soul inside the queen. Bong Hwan was more like a selfish jerk who did things just for his survival. But wat made him do good things, I think even so yong has role in it, like a persuausion.. So I felt it from episode 8,so happy with the ending.

Bong Hwan never had a romantic inclination towards king. The writer has well depicted how bong hwan hated all body touches, kisses and even the make out from the king part.
Coming to so yong, from the special episodes it is so evident that king fell for so young at first sight, but his all family was murdered by her clan, so he thought she will be just like them.So king hated her. She even decided to gave up her life wen she understood that king is not gonna love her.Bong Hwan acted as a bridge for tgeir reconnection.
In the 20 th episode, bong hwan himself has admitted that he was just a jerk and was so selfish, but probably so young soul made him to do the caring things which he had never did.Bong Hwan started to support the king only after poisoning.
